Why not just start Trey Lance?

Because we are the type who likes to beat a dead horse over and over again, or hoping if we fail enough times it will finally work as long as Jones is happy with revenues.

Dak is coming off one of the best regular seasons a QB has ever had in Cowboys history. Was Troy ever an MVP candidate? No he was not.

Dak had a bad game, our defense had a record breaking bad game.

Dak will get paid no matter what from an NFL team.

Jethro has no future QB, because he is a horrible GM with no back up plan.
I agree Dak will get paid in cracker jack packs backing up the Titans

Because Lance sucks. He made his money off 1 decent college season. Teams don't give up on their high draft pick unless they are mentally not ready for the nfl. Lance couldn't beat out rush in an open and fair competition to save his life.
Lance beat out JimmyG for the starting QB job.

Then broke his leg in game 2.

Not even close. Trance was given the job due to his draft status.

If Trance best out Jimmy G he would have been an adequate back up for Purdy. Meaning no need to add Darnold and then trade Trance.

Dak is gone, the writing is on the wall and before you say he gives us the best chance to win this year, I agree, he is going to win more meaningless regular season games and if this team is fortunate to make the playoffs he isn't going to take us to a superbowl, that's not going to happen with this current team regardless and I think most everyone agrees with that take.

So starting Dak net's you nothing and actually hurts the 25 draft stock. Give Lance a true year of evaluation, the worst that can happen is the team goes 0-17 has the top pick or top five pick and free of Dak's cap hit. Or start Dak, win a few games, know nothing about Lance's ability and end up with a middle to late round first.
this is a good idea, they need to evaluate lance in real games, then decide if he is promising, or needs to be traded.
And getting the #1 draft pick in each round, is worth alot. Way better than what they get if the play dak.

Will jones boys do this? lol no I dont think so.

They seem to think they're going to motivate Dak into winning a Super Bowl, which is hilarious.

trance was going to cost more due to draft status. So he wasnt feasible as a bkup.
He would need to be starter or traded.
Same for dallas, they need to start him or get rid of him.

no they just want him to take less $ or whatever they are offering.
They want to keep him but for less than what dak is wanting.

Darnold got paid way more than Trance last year.

He was paid $4.5M. So you are incorrect again.

Because you run the risk of losing the locker room. Too many players and coaches have their futures tied up in this season to want to see what the backup has for next year because if Dallas doesn't win this year most of them won't be back next year.
This is the only negative, as Lamb is playing for a contract…. Unless he gets a deal early

Correct. he was only given the starting job because they wanted to move on from Jimmy G. Lance was terrible as a starter and wasn't allowed to compete with purdy the following year. They found their guy and it wasn't lance.

Dak will win a SB somewhere else in the right system and with the right coaching. Its unattainable in Dallas due to ownership that lost their way decades ago. Now its clear Stevie is running the Titanic straight into the iceberg fast as he can. WHY is the question
The only way possible is if he’s on the bench as a back-up…
