You do not want a Right Tackle in Rnd 1

I’m sorry but that is just not the move.

We have to find impact players. I’m all for drafting linemen but a Right Tackle in round 1 better be some type of phenom Tackle.

Now a trade down and take one? I’m ok with it.

They drafted a Nose Tackle in round 1 last year which was a complete waste and they can’t turn around and compound that this year by selecting a Right Tackle.

This draft class has to get us back on course because last year was just so bad.

I'm guessing 1 of the following:
Troy Fautanu
Byron Murphy
Taliese Fuaga
Graham Barton
Amarius Mims
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jordan Morgan

Or trade back and get one of the following:
Zach Frazier
Darius Robinson
Kingsley Suamataia
Edgerrin Cooper
Payton Wilson

I think that is pretty close and might be close to the right order.

I predict you’re going WR. Gallup gone and Cooks getting old… Adonai Mitchell. Would be a very Jerry pick to take

our record of first rd draft choices that were Offensive Linemen has been stellar. Tyron Smith; Future HOF. Zach Martin; Future HOF; Tyler Smith; All Pro in his second year
Fredbeard WOULD have been a HOF player but for catching a rare disease
So frankly I feel more confident in the boys picking OL in the first rd than any other position

If you wind up with a Lane Johnson caliber RT, especially at 24, I would be for. This assuming Tyler Smith is your LT.

If you are talking top 10 and even 15, RT is not what you want to wind up with. However your RT is still going to block elite rushers and having two dominant bookend OT's can be critical to an elite passing game. Especially now where at some point we are going to be breaking in a new passer

Many of the left and right tackles are also being projected as possible OGs and many of the "Right Tackles" are being projected as athletic enough to play Left Tackle. If the right player fell to 24 the combination of he and Tyler on the left side could be extremely potent. The bottom line is they've been very successful with early OL picks and until they fail I give them the benefit of the doubt.

JC Latham
Taliese Fuaga
Troy Fautanu

These players are all most likely gone by 24 but if one of them fell I don't think it's a very difficult decision. There may be up to six QBs taken ahead of us plus the usual teams that draft for need instead of value which could result in a Lamb type situation.

I would say drafting a nose tackle in round 1 last year wasn't the problem - the problem was drafting a bad nose tackle.

To me, C is way more important to the OL than RT. Give me JPJ or Barton over a RT anyday

Absolutely
Catch has always had this blind spot for the importance of the run game and stopping the run so not surprising

IMO, the biggest issue with taking at RT in rd1, is that you don't fill a need the O-line currently has. We currently have holes at LT and C.
Yes Steele sucked last year, but most think he will be back to solid a year removed from his knee injury.
Moving Tyler out to LT fills that hole, but also creates another at LG.
I don't think we can, or maybe I just don't want to try, to count on both Bass at LG and Hoffman at C, stepping up to be quality starters. One of them I hope can do it, both just seems like wishful thinking.
We need to draft to fill one of 3 positions, LT, LG or C.

I think it is very likely that Tyler is a better guard than tackle. He can do it at tackle but I think he is not as good.

How many of them are ever worth a dang and actually have some sort of impact on a game?

Awe inspiring the lack of football knowledge displayed in this post

Sort of like claiming I can build a hundred story skyscraper but not have strong foundation

Awe, still thinking it’s 1995.

Nose tackle is a fossil position that we should’ve never taken in the first round.

Your lack of knowledge is showing.

I see little if any difference between a LT and RT these days anyway. It's not like offenses are loading up and rushing to the strong side 20 times a game any more. Teams pass it 60% of the time and DCs attack both edges.

Good tackles are a rare commodity. If there's a guy you like, just get him on your roster and figure it out later. He can play guard if he has to, he can sit a year if he has to. Any young, starting-caliber tackle on either side is worth a minimum of $12M-$15M per year in free agency. And guards are now starting to get pricey too.

The Cowboys have so many questions that they should take the best player available. We can get 3 to 4 starters by taking the bpa. We might miss out on a left tackle or running back early but getting a true will linebacker and an elite 2nd receiver might be the way to go.
