Nope, just another brainless boneheaded non- aware move by Fat Mike. When is this going to be corrected? When he assigns on coordinator to be right next to him to manage the clock. We were awful. Took way too much clock when we still had a drive going and then he clubbed the timeout before the clock ran out on the play clock. Dumb, Dumb, DUMB!!!

Overall I found Mike's game management to be better than usual - he neutralized Garrett to a large degree, used Zeke as needed and in the right spots (running in the score from short yardage, blocking for Dak, not as many foolish long throws instead of working the ball down the field and not letting Aubrey attempt a 71 yard fg (too big a chance it's blocked or Aubrey injures himself trying to kick one that long, etc.) and otherwise.

Not that he'll do that well all season, we know he'll have a number of head scratching brain fart calls, but it's nice to have fewer of them this game.

From what I could gather, McCarthy thought the officials did not properly reset the play clock and the field goal unit was operating as if they had more time than they did.

Ultimately didn't matter, but it kept Brandon Aubrey out of the record books. My suspicion is he'll get other chances from 66 yards or beyond.....

I don't know that I've gotten a full explanation of why the playclock should have been reset.

I also think it's on the players to notice the clock, more than the coach, in that case.

I re-watched the play. Cowboys were at fault. The 40-second play clock began ticking at the end of the previous play, just like it is supposed to.
The kicking team took a lot of time setting up.
Nobody on sideline had enough wherewithal to ask for a timeout.
