Dak jumping on the fumble - Leadership

Anyone who likes to discredit Dak for his bad play (which is sometimes correct) is one thing. But to say he isnt a leader is another.

Him landing on that fumble last night and sacrificing his body is something that QBs dont usually do. Cam Newton didnt do it in the freaking SB and his career never recovered.

Say what you want about Dak and a lot of it is warranted. Him jumping on that loose ball last night was a testament to his leadership.
 
He made some horrid decisions last night that were inexcusable. No QB at his age and experience level should be making some of the mistakes he was making last night.

But his strengths were also on display. He dug down and made some gritty plays when he had to— and it worked out for the W.

We have lost some of those close games over the years where he couldn’t quite do enough to overcome the mistakes and miscues. We did last night.

The infuriating thing is that the penalties, mistakes, miscues, sloppiness, slow starts etc… STILL continue to plague this offense.

We can do better. We should be better. But we are STILL our own worst enemy and we have to overcome ourselves in addition to beating the opponent.
 
It’s his job…..and I never doubted dak as a leader

I only doubt him in the playoffs because he doesn’t perform just like the rest of the team

I think most QBs would try to recover a fumble. Just because there's an example of one who didn't doesn't make it something QBs don't usually do. I'm proud of how Dak played at the end of the game to help us get the victory. The fumble recovery was big. But let's not make it more than it was.

Rex Ryan said that exact thing he said some guys in the SB won’t jump on that pass I’m like yeah he’s talking about Cam lol.

Dak definitely has his flaws and is frustrating at times, but there's not a single person in here that can argue against his competitiveness and will to win. He's given it 100% every snap.

I have to give Dak credit. He won that game when things didn't go well. He overcame his mistakes he had to find another way to win when the Steelers took away Lamb. And yes him jumping on that ball made me think of when Cam Newton just stood there.

Rex Ryan said the same thing. Guys do make business decisions…..
 
That was an instinctive football play by a QB, and has nothing to do with being a leader. Sure he could have made a business decision, but this was all about awareness and doing what it takes to win a game, which is his and every other player's job. Imagine the takes if he just stood there?

There are plenty of examples of Dak being a leader if you want to pound your chest about him, but this isn't one.

And probably saved the season.

Not sure if the fumble in the Super Bowl was the undoing of Cam's career as much as his bum shoulder and conversion to vegan was....

Either way, solid play by Dak there at the end. When Dowdle fumbled at the goal line I was thinking "this is the most Cowboys way to end a game ever" and then he came up with it. Still riding the high.

Of course and until he pulls one out in the playoffs like this the criticism will continue.
 
I would say it was football instincts which he certainly has

He also has leadership attributes which he has demonstrated

He just sucks at being a gamer and blows big games
