I was listening to Stephen Jones, said the NIL in college football could affect the depth of the NFL Draft. It is an interesting discussion, if a college player can make x, why not try to increase his value before he enters the draft. Perhaps, we may see teams trying to move up in future drafts.

NIL killed the running back depth in last years draft. The backup running back for Ohio State was going to be the top running back in the draft last year. I would like to know how much money he made this season.

Look at the quarterbacks. Some of these guys have been in college for 6 years. Good quarterbacks too like the Denver (Nix) and Atlanta (Pennix)

From the point of view of them staying in school is a good thing for several different reasons:
physical maturity
emotional maturity
playing experience

I see no downsides for them staying in school outside of course getting injured; but then they can pay for insurance for that risk

As regards a QB staying in college for six years somehow is not a bad thing either; the more experience the better

I get that, but if there are less players each year, those comp picks become far less valuable

for a few years that will be true until the pipeline fills up again

Gotta remember that Covid gave everyone an extra year of eligibility and that won’t be the norm going forward.

Plus Pennix had several serious injuries in college. I know he got at least 1 medical redshirt year.

What is good for the NFL is that when a player stays in for three or four years you get a much better read on what he can do and what he is all about
a lot of busts were one year wonders. IF they had been required or chose to stay in college another year or two, they would have been exposed

It would only ever effect the first 1-2 drafts, because the players staying in school would be supplemented with the players who stayed in school from the previous draft that are now coming out
