Today should have been a clear reminder to Jerry of his failures

In 2023, we won the division at 12-5, squeezing out the crown over an 11-6 Philly team that collapsed down the stretch. Both teams went into first round playoff games and proceeded to get demolished. When the offseason hit, Philly took a long hard look at what they were and where they needed/wanted to go. They were active in cap management, FA, etc. They made some mistakes, such as signing Bryce Huff, to that big deal. But today you saw the overall fruits of their offseason work. They are a complete football team that ran our sorry butts off the field with two shoddy backup QBs running the show. 2023 wasn't good enough for them. They knew it and they set out in the offseason to fix what they thought was broken.

Now compare that to us. We also were embarrassed in the playoffs and clearly had some massive flaws that needed to be fixed. We also needed to get more talented at certain positions. Changes to the coaching staff were justified. So what did our GM do? Made zero changes to coaching. They let a bunch of talent run out the door. Were the most inactive they have ever been in FA. They waited and waited and waited to sign their two key offseason contract issues. They did little to manage their cap like Philly and other teams do. In other words, they acted/behaved like they were a SB caliber roster that just needed to trim some fat and get younger at some positions. That what they put on the field in 2023 was a loaded roster where they could allow a few guys to run off as they were stacked with younger talent to replace them.

If today didn't wake up Jerry, nothing ever will. I fully expect a similar offseason with Jerry fluffing himself, maybe throwing the players a little under the bus. He'll praise the young guys, claim we have some young guys people don't realize are ready to be stars, and talk about how the draft will fix us. He'll bristle at criticism of what he did. He'll throw a hissy fit when people point out the obvious mistakes he made. But even still nothing will change.

Philly is on another level in terms of roster management right now compared to us. Washington dumped their "Jerry Jones" when Snyder was forced to sell and it appears they have competent ownership and management in place. The Cowboys aren't winning the division IMO in the next 2-3 years, at least. And it will 100% be Jerry's fault.

Yup,
Until we get a quality GM, we ain't winning squat.
The big difference between Dallas and Philadelphia front offices ?
Accountability!

Good post brother. But sadly I learned a long time ago that nothing wakes Jerry Jones up except perhaps money or some kind of public calling out to embarrass him.

The money part is almost impossible to touch. The embarrassment? It’s possible. But it will take a lot more fans getting fed up and showing it.

The guy actually said that “dead coaching money is a major problem in todays NFL.”

There weren’t going to be any staff changes because they didn’t want to eat any money. They proceed to have a losing season and the consensus is now that they will be back.

It’s so all over the place it’s insane. They don’t have any type of clue what they are doing.

That‘s the truth. The Jones boys are fat, lazy billionaires playing fantasy football. Real GMs literally have their livelihoods on the line to win a championship. Not here.

These guys are completely lost and don’t even care enough to work harder. Jerry is so shameless that he’s not embarrassed to show up at boxing matches during the season when other GMs are scouring film he’s rubbing elbows with celebs and planning the next concert, rodeo or tractor pull at his stayjum.

He loves being a celebrity waaaaay more than he loves winning.

What Jerry sees is a team without its quarterback, without its No. 1 receiver, without one of its top defensive linemen, without a second-year linebacker who was playing great and without a top cornerback who was an All-Pro before injury setbacks.

Because of those things, he's not going to feel that Philly is ahead of us. He's going to believe we'd be in the playoffs if not for those injuries ... and it's hard to argue that if everyone had been healthy we wouldn't be a playoff team. Of course, what Jerry wouldn't admit or couldn't see is that even if everyone was healthy, we did nothing to improve our playoff fortunes.

Jerry Jones put the Cowboys right where he wants them, The media talking and the stadium making him money year round

What do you guys expect after seeing all the evidence?

I honestly want to know, who really thinks this about the playoffs and the Lombardi?

he was thrilled last year and though the team was really good. the only reason we backed in was that Philly collapsed.

Pretty much.....even the students at the School for the Visually Impaired knew.

Exactly. Roseman lost his job once when the eagles hired Chip Kelly.

He managed to get control back when Chip left and has been the most aggressive and active GM in the NFL since.

Imagine that.

What failure?
Jerry's goal is m9ney.
Cowboys are most profitable team in NFL
They are worth 11B.

His goals and fans goals aren't the same. You are measuring failure from your point of view

Some of us still remember the 70's and 80's Cowboys teams, who had the formula of winning. A Hall of Fame HC, Landry, arguably the NFL's best GM (Schramm), and top personnel-scouting people (Brandt). So many great players, icons. and notably in the early years, a real live, genuine hands-off owner. (Murchison, Jr.). They do exist.
But Jerry Jones would be too threatened to have assets like these in his office. He's a tree sloth as an NFL owner, masquerades around as a "General Manager", which clearly he is not. Unless and until these things change dramatically, the Cowboys are doomed to more games like today's loss, losing seasons and the occasional tournament first round flame out.

Which directly contradicts his claims that he would spend whatever took to win a SB if he could. That was a lie. He wouldn't even spend 6 million for a 2K rusher.

A clear reminder to everyone else. Jerry Jones does not see himself making mistakes. Those are the shortcomings of those he drafts, signs, hires and sires.
Jerry is Al Davis in the late years, he cant face the truth so he detaches from reality and attacks anyone that tells him the truth

Jerry is GMINO, GM in name only, we dont have a GM
