He’s everything in a football coach in 2025 that you want .

- he’s a gambler
- he’s player coach just enough
- he’s a motivator - a screamer
- he’s not afraid to bench a guy
- he can coach up a QB
- he’s done it at the biggest level - the Cowboys of CFB.

This is our guy .

...faced with the exact same dysfunctional culture confronted by his last seven head coaching predecessors who followed Jimmy Johnson. And that applies to any and all potential and actual future hires with Jerry Jones (and very likely DNA Kid #1 afterwards) as that culture's central component.

He also signed a big extension a month ago and Jerry ain’t paying tens of millions to buy him out.

So it ain’t happening.

Would he still be afraid to bench a guy if Jerry said he starts?

Being an Irish Fan for a very long time (pretty much equal to how long as a Boys fan) I am torn. Its been a long time for the Irish; longer then for the Boys.
It seems likely we are stuck with MM for another year or two and if Freeman can get us a NC I can be convinced to let him go to the Boys for a couple more rings

Everything I have heard and seen is that he would make it part of the contract that he controls the roster; like the deal BP had.

I love Freeman too. Don't know if he would translate at this level or not but it’s a wasted question anyway. There’s no way in Hades this owner hires a talented young guy like this. He would be too threatened by Freeman’s talent and charisma.

Even with no salary cap on coaches, Jerry pays his HCs over the years well below what the better HCs make. McCarthy was the 16th highest paid HC in the NFL in 2024 and the third highest in the NFC East.

He's not taking a job in Dallas when he can go to a franchise that actually values coaches and lets them coach.

Don’t be surprised if the Bears do exactly whatI’m advocating JJ do.

Leave him in South Bend - he’s doing great things there that are long overdue
