Just look at the 4 finalist, they all have mobile QB's. It is becoming such an advantage in having a QB to get that so called hidden yardage. Players like Allen/Hurts make the offense be in 1st and 8 every series, the likes of Mahomes/Daniels pick up gut wrenching 1st downs to defense due to their scramming abilities when a play breaks down.

What separates Mahomes/Allen is that they are elite passers first. They can beat you in so many ways and are very difficult to defend. These are the modern, next level QB's that every team is searching for.

Now the counter agrument, outside of Mahomes, none of these QB's have won a title. These QB's tend to always be banged up with their play style.

I'd love to start drafting a mobile QB every one or two years to develop. This team probably isn't going to be drafting a first rounder any time soon, so the only way we'll get one is to luck into it.

The only ones I think we have a realistic shot at this draft (that I have watched tape on) are Dart and Mellott. Dart has the size and arm you desire and mobility but plenty of question marks too. Mellott is only 6'0, but he is going to end up running a low 4.4 and is an absurd athlete.

That ship has sailed for us. Prescott doesnt seem to be the athlete he was, and since 2020 he has become injury prone. There is even a good chance of decline. He could be End of His Career Matt Shaub by the end of his contract

Watch 1st half of Mellotts Natty game
Tried to pass from pocket.. very innaccurate
Passed much better on move vrs zone
Once Bizon mixed in man....threw him off

Somewhat a less skilled Easton Stick
Stick had top 3-cone drill at combine
Maybe 4.55 speed
But really hasnt made a nfl splash

I agree, those days are long gone for Dak, but it's something to keep in mind down the road as this is what this league is turning into.

Be careful what you wish for though....i'm watching the Eagles and the announcers talk about how they may can't tush push with Hurts because his knee is messed up and his knee is messed up every year.
I'll give Allen and Daniels their due. They use their legs but their arms and accuracy have been just as deadly.

I don't think Dak is a cripple like most do. I think you can still keep the defense honest. Mahomes and Russell Wilson do it well. And they don't take much contact.

It is.

And our guy can't even go fishing without an ankle brace.
I don't think it's the big deal that everyone is making it out to be. Did the Eagles really win because of Hurt's mobility? Or because of their stout defense and rushing game? If they had Matthew Stafford instead of Hurts, would they have lost yesterday? Commanders and Ravens, for sure, are dependent on the legs of their quarterbacks...but at the end of the day, these are the best teams in the playoffs. It sucks to admit that, but these are the most complete teams, and a mobile QB won't fix that for most teams.

He did have a 44 yard TD run yesterday in a game that went down to the wire.

If you can find an elite running QB then why not? It causes problems for the defense because they have to account for the QB running the football. You can see what Hurts and Jaylen Daniels do to defenses. And of course Lamar is also a big problem, especially if you also have a dangerous RB.

Running QBs just break defenses' number games, both rushing the ball and passing it.

IMO, it is no coincidence that all these guys started showing up about the time the NFL started legislating that you couldn't look funny at QBs Running QBs have always been a cheat code - look at college with guys like Tom Osborne and Urban Meyer following him - but before 2010, they were just too risky to use in the pros.

You have to have a qb that can run and escape or you are set up to fail.

Riley Leonard intrigues me. Gives me Daniel Jones vibes (when Jones plays well).

Great size, speed and good arm. Just needs some refinement.

He might be there at 12. A chance that the Giants take him at the top of the 2nd.
Absolutely nobody is drafting Milroe in the 1st round. I wouldn't even touch him in the 2nd round. In a vacuum I think Joe Milton was a better prospect coming out. Milroe is an absolute project of projects.
