Listed at 256lbs, is that right? That seems crazy light of an IDL.
My first thought was that that commercial with the Falcons, " I could have had a Falcon!"
We could have had a Poonah or a Rankins or a Reed for that money.
I don't hate it, just odd that we spent for Osa, who is stronger against the pass than the run, then follow it up with this move. That's a lot of cap space without addressing our main weakness on the DL. We still need a big dude in there who can eat up space, and I understand we have Mazi, but he's not enough.

Interesting move to sign a backup for Osa that has the same, but worse, weaknesses.

In a vacuum Thomas isn’t the worst move, but not really sure where he fits on this roster. He’s been a tweener since college- not fast/twitchy enough to be an effective edge rusher, and not strong enough to be a full time DT.

To me he is basically Golstons replacement

I mean you can draft big trash can full of dirt types in the 5th. My biggest fear is going back to marinelli days where everyone got upfield so fast they ran past the guy with the ball to get to the qb

If they get a big nasty DT in the draft then I am fine with this. Thomas and Osa on pass downs. Osa and and the big guy on running downs. And there is always the chance Mazi continues to get better.

Not mad about this move. Just a veteran signing that can give Osa a breather in the rotation. And at $4 million per season it's not like the Cowboys are married to him financially.

Plus DL coach Aaron Whitecotton had him for two years in New York. If he didn't think he could help here, don't you think he would have said "pass"? No, my guess is Whitecotton recommended Thomas.

That's one quality starter out of 12 picks, a few contributors and several players who either weren't on the roster long or did not make the team at all.
