The price for Dallas Cowboys star defender is only getting higher

Please expound on what credit Jerry is missing out on.

Jerry is clearly a business genius who has made this franchise financially bulletproof. No one can doubt that. But his football acumen is clearly the opposite.

There is not another team in the NFL who would hire Jerry as their GM. No other owner in the NFL would tolerate his three decades of winning 4 wild card games. Zero would tolerate it besides himself.

I don’t “hate” Jerry Jones. But I am beyond tired of the results we get from him come playoff time. If we ever by some miracle get even a divisional playoff win under Jerry, maybe he will deserve a Pat on the back. But having three decades of playoff futility….what “credit” does he deserve?
(chuckling loudly) :muttley: Winning cures all at all levels.

Micah Parsons was eligible for a contract extension last offseason, but he and the Dallas Cowboys couldn’t come to an agreement, and Parsons sat back and did not draw much attention. We saw them get the deals done with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, waiting until the last possible moment to do so, in turn made them pay way to much for Dak, and probably more than they wanted to for Lamb at the time.

Here we go again with the front office of the Dallas Cowboys waiting forever to pay Micah. and doing so made his price even higher. Myles Garrett signed on Sunday with the Cleveland Browns, the biggest non-QB money in the history of the league. Only problem for Dallas: The highest-paid defensive end dollar figure has risen substantially in the last calendar year. Last summer, San Francisco’s Nick Bosa earned $34 million per year. Maybe the Cowboys could’ve signed Parsons for a few million more. Now, Maxx Crosby reset the market last week before Garrett leapfrogged him. Garrett’s deal is expected to pay him $40 million per year, and it has a record $123.5 million guaranteed.

The way this front office operates is so frustrating. Time and time again, they cost themselves money, and they seem not to even care, yet they won’t get deals done and sign outside free agents at other needy spots. This is typical Jones. He allows other players to set the market and drive the value up for his players. Therefore, Jones has to pay more money, which detracts from the salary cap for other players. Not did they let the price for their best defender go through the roof, they cleared all that cap space and can’t even resign any of their other guys that have been homegrown. The Cowboys lost Jourdan Lewis and Chauncey Golston, two big-time players, for the defense a year ago, and they have only signed former Jets DT Solomon Thomas has agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $8M.

This falls back on Stephen. Man, this falls back on your team. You are guarding team money instead of just using the cap funds to allow the coaching staff to maximize their team play. Your staff and coaches are keeping up with need and damn sure on the best for the Cowboys.

They are on top of their jobs.

That cap is not the franchises income. It is your team's life line. Your stars are the roster's live line. Don't dramatize spending, build one's team as strong as it can be. This is sports not protection of Holywood.

This signing is important to this team. Get it done...do YOUR job. Don't bast in the drama. Fix the damn team. If you need drama, take the family to a movie.

Your dragging feet cost that team two good players already!

GO COWBOYS!
Perfectly said!!!!

It's not about what he deserves or doesn't deserve.

It's about the fan base as a whole blaming him for everything they perceived wrong.

It's low hanging fruit. A player doesn't sign, it's Jerry's fault. Not the player, not the agent but Jerry's. Case in point CD, everyone lambasted Jerry for waiting too long, but CD stated he needed to be highest paid. Yes Jerry was to blame.

In case of Michah, dude is in Dubai. But it's Jerry who takes brunt of not being serious and just wasting time. Contracts take 3 parties. But only one gets blamed.

This is my point.

Wait, unless it's the current QB then both are to blamed. So there is that.

And. Let’s get him signed now rather than him hold out all of training camp. Miss the new defense scheme and conditioning. We don’t need him using the first few weeks of the season to get in Football shape and integrated with the new system.

It doesn’t matter if Parsons were on Mars. They negotiate with the agent, not the player.

Why wait until Parsons costs more than if they had signed him early? That ship has sailed now. But once again, we lost cap space by waiting just as we did last year with Cedee and Dak.

Regarding “blame”…why shouldn’t the person who hires, fires and makes every decision not be held accountable for the results we’ve been getting? Jerry is not the only one responsible. But he is MOST responsible by his own design.

They began discussions BEFORE Garret had signed. If Micah was so serious about not needing to be paid the most why didn't he and his agent sign then?

Have an answer for that? Or does it not fit your narrative?

why is it Jerry's fault and not the agents? Or not Micahs for stating he didn't need to be at $40 mil a year and get signed?

Why? Can you wax eloquently and tell us all exactly why this is, please.

Accountability always starts at the top.
When there are 3 sides to a contract each party has its own proportion of accountability, no?

If Micah has said for months he doesn't need $40 mil a year to sign and signs for more than that, he has to be held to account for his words, no?

Per Micah's own words it shouldn't matter what any other player signs for, he stated he didn't need that amount.

But sure, keep holding only one side to the fire.

Jerry & Stephen desperately need to read the writing on the wall and get busy with the business of tending to Micah's contract negotiations. They must know by now that waiting until the last minute will only cost them extra money. Yet, they persist in screwing up this way every time.

If they really want to avoid that happening, now is the time to get busy and settle everything before it's too late. They're only hurting themselves by waiting. Why they prefer to wait all the time is exactly why nobody respects their judgment. This FO goes beyond being incompetent.

I endorse this post.

Parsons is an elite pass rusher but I’d honestly rather have the 3 guys in OP’s post more. Myles, Bosa, Crosby. They are all great against the run too. But yeah, looks like our Jones Boys are headed to another ‘highest paid at his position’ contract. No rush, it’s only 1/3 your cap space.
yea, lets return to about 6 years ago when we had zero pash rush and a sorry defense.

Another "Highest paid at his position," well, he is a top player at his position, he isnt getting 20th at his position money.

How do we know this falls entirely on Jerry?

If you were in the same position as these three players would you sign early, setting the floor for the other guys right behind you, or would you wait it out and let them set the floor for you?

The only thing as clueless as Jerry Jones is the people on this site. Did you guys just watch the Myles Garrett fiasco? He signed "early" and as soon as salaries started sky rocketing, he wanted a renegotiation. That's what the really good players do so when you sign them isn't important. You will probably have to re-negotiate if they perceive themselves not making market value and Micah falls into that category
