All of us at some point has been mad with Jerry for taking too long with signing our own guys who are on pace to get a big deal. We wait and wait and wait, and end up spending more money. Why should we be worried that Jerry is spending extra money, in the end it seems that that's what he likes to do, they just try to fool us by saying bad things about there not being a lot of pie left!

From this day forward, no longer shall we be worried about how much extra Jerry spends especially when we're not using the money as we could/should be, please give your thoughts!!! Hope everyone is well!

It's not about how much he spends, he should spend every dollar the league allows, it's how he spends. Case in point: When you break the bank on a QB, he should elevate the team to certain extent. It's a bad look when you have to surround that QB with top talent to elevate him.

I'm not speaking for the zone, i'm not that important!!! I'm sorry fellow bloggers, mods if this has hurt my chance of the ultimate goal, I'll never forgive myself!!!!:muttley::muttley::muttley:
Liar!!! You're ultimate goal is to kiss a Yeti and you know it!!!!!

Not defending the guy but he doesn’t always wait….it’s more like he makes the wrong choices. He has gotten burned with second tier types, and consequently comes the “need to see more leaves fall” policy, which should not apply to higher end players. Makes the wrong call on both ends.

Doesn’t matter. It’s not as if the savings would go toward anything other than giving that much more to their own draftees…..ya know, the players whose names they have heard before.

because that extra money he could save if he signed earlier, could add up to sign a real impactful FA, not just JAGs he has been signing. we were total trash last year, garbage, below the floor and now we are almost at the floor and less smelly garbage and people celebrate.....

and Jerry doesn't care, because he has to spend minimum cap floor and his spending is limited by cap ceiling, so he doesn't care who he spends it on as long as he is within those two parameters, which we often are closer to the bottom of it....and he is transactional. Dak gets the money...why? he was 2nd in MVP (read popularity and marketing, not that it means anything), and he was top 10 in Jersey dales. Parsons was top 5 in jersey sales, so he is going to get signed. CD was top 10 in jersey sales, so he got his money...

On a side note to the topic, the system in general is a bit flawed/unfair IMO, to some players and all teams.

Teams only control players not drafted in round one for four seasons. They can’t be offered an extension until after year three, at which point anyone who has become a top player may as well just wait it out and grab an insurance policy for one season against injury.

Many of those types need time before they are able to do much beyond covering kicks. So the team doesn’t get much out of their time, effort and expense of developing them before having to dish out a larger contract, which are limited.

On the other hand a first round pick is subject to a fifth year option and two franchise tags. That’s out of line as well.

Seems to me as if each side would benefit with getting rid of the tag in exchange for an extra year of development time/contract control for the later round guys.

Please give your thoughts……

Impossible to get the Player's U to agree to that.

Wait. Checks notes. It's here somewhere.........

I seem to recall you being gung ho about Jerry spending in a prior free agency thread. That you were going to tell all the doubters I told you so. Or yell at them. I forget exactly. That's ok, you had a punchers chance. Things were looking like you could be right. But now you've awakened from your nap. Welcome back. :)

Pretty sure Cooglypickles posts while he's napping.

How Jerry spends or wastes money is just a symptom of the larger problem. When he waits to sign a player only to pay him millions more than he would have it is just a reminder of what a clueless old fool he appears to be. And he appears to be getting worse. By waiting Jerry keeps the team in turmoil, which he loves but it is bad for the team, IMO.

As a fan of the Cowboys Jerry's last couple of years have been nothing short of embarrassing. All we can do as fans is shrug our shoulders and accept this is what our team has become now. But for me, it is hard to ignore, support, or enjoy. This is a time of year we should be building optimism. Instead we face the reality a clue less owner and GM is dragging this team down the tubes with his apparent dementia.

We would be better off getting a Baker Mayfield / Sam Darnold type and some good FA WRs around him then Dak and Tolbert..

Yep, I’m aware of how that stuff works, but wouldn’t you figure that giving up the tag would be enough?

It really does restrict guys at times, as well as the threat of it being used, and those are often the guys in line for the bigger deals.
