YipI'm not sure why this is so hard to understand........Milton, like Lance is a jumpstart to finding Dak's replacement. We are not a backup QB from playoff contention. Despite what some believe, we are at least 2, maybe three years away from a real shot at the divisional title.
You're changing the topic now. You were talking about this being exactly like Lance, and that's what my comment related to, but this post goes a different direction.I hear you, but I am not interested in a cap hit to have a quality backup. The reality is that Dak cannot be trusted to stay healthy after 2 awful injuries, and he is not again well. If Jerry made this trade to solidify our QB situation, in no way am I as a fan comfortable with this. This all goes back to us not signing Dak to that contract, and then trying stuff like this. Unless Dak goes down with another significant injury, these is 0 chance our new QB plays/develops
This comment isn't really an "except" to what I said because I just said his situation isn't the same as Lance's was, not that he was a quality player.Except…
JM can’t throw a football 5 feet.
His draft Bio is a train wreck.
Why not find a cheap QB who can at least be accurate?
I still say this is very similar to Lance in simple ways: neither QB has had a ton of playing time in college...both come in hyped...both came in via mid-round trades, except 1 was a top round pick. The difference? Trey was not traded for to be a pickup, he was a development QB who could become one. Joe seemingly is expected to be QB2, and on this team and it's status at QB, I for one am not comfortable handing over the keys to the O when Dak breaks a finger nail. This is what I am trying to get at. Not every team has their backup play only due to injuries, see last year: Colts, Broncos, Steelers, Giants, Titans, Raiders and others I am sure. These teams at least had back-ups with experience, and we are going in with Will Grier and Milton? You're changing the topic now. You were talking about this being exactly like Lance, and that's what my comment related to, but this post goes a different direction.
And I'm still confused on your argument about the backup QB not playing unless the starter goes down. How is that different than any other team? Do you want the team to start Milton in 2025? After all, those are the options, either starter or backup.
As for getting the chance to play to help his development, as you mentioned, Dak has had injury problems. Cooper Rush has stared 13 games the last 3 years, and played at least briefly in 12 others. As I mentioned before, Rush is no longer with the Cowboys, so he's not there to take snaps away from Milton.
Apparently, this board loves the idea of Milton as a backup, and I for one don't see the point if there is no plan..aka Lance. Imagine if we put Lance in last year instead of Rush. We would have a shot at a potential franchise QB, and all it did was give Jerry and Jr a warm feeling that this team is closer than we areWho cares about a back-up QB, that's got no future. Even with Dak we'll be lucky to even get the 7th Seed one and done. If Dak goes down, or doesnt perform, it's a race to a better draft pick.
