I agree with Mario, aka Goat House, here. Someone's getting a steal in the back half of round 1.

Walter Nolen is the most explosive and disruptive DT in class imo. Wins with power and quickness. Has won in every alignment across DL.
Mason Graham is a great unique prospect. Lateral movement and quickness are insane and often how he wins reps, but also can be his weakness as he spends reps almost working sideline to sideline rather than into the backfield. Nolen is slightly more explosive and disruptive working towards the backfield/pocket and that is the small difference for me.

These character concerns have been out there since before the combine but no details have emerged.

Just did a search on him and its all the same comment:
'Vague Character issues'

I am beginning to think they are less than they appeared.

As far as I could tell it’s centered around moving… he played at 3 different high schools in 3 years and entered the portal after 2 seasons in college. He’s never formed any strong friendships and may be a bit introverted.
Think it’s mostly BS smokescreens by teams in the 20s hoping he’ll fall out of the teens!

Which is why I'm talking not truly informed. I may talk to the guy for 10 minutes and never want him on my football team. I can assure you that would have happened with Sam Williams and Kelvin Joseph.

But fans don't get that access. So we can only go by what we can see on the field.

He's my favorite DT this year.

I don't think the Cowboys have any intention of drafting a DT in the first round. I think they really believe their offseason moves have solidified the DL. They will draft DL depth, but I will be shocked if they draft a DT in the 1st or second rounds.

When you factor in Nolen's character concerns, Graham is the higher floor prospect, but Nolen offers the bigger upside. Graham might never become a star, but Nolen could be a total bust. 3 High Schools, 2 College's concerns me.

agree, they wont pick a DT at 12 but may do it if they trade down from 12.

I knew Graham was going to get dinged in the draft process. He doesn't have the dominant physical traits and body type guys like Nolen have.

I think many DC’s that run attacking fronts are in the process of scrapping 1T’s unless they absolutely have the required quickness/get off to not only be successful in that scheme, but be a true eater of blocks to make sure that the 3T is ALWAYS seeing favorable matchups. Having 2 bigger 3T’s (your Jalen Carter/Jeff Simmons/Chris Jones types) is the future. That’s why I think Tyleik Williams is gonna be an even BIGGER steal than Nolen. Just my $.02.

I want a short, heavy, strong dude in the middle who eats babies and picks his teeth with arm bones.

Nah.

Nolen can be explosive but he’s absolutely useless when the play goes past across his face. He’s not Aaron Donald because Donald could turn a corner and was a killer in pursuit. He’s also not in the same stratosphere of athlete as Donald; he’s a stiff plodder and not surprising he sat out most of the Combine testing. Nolen is guy that basically loads up and shoots his wad and then disappears for five snaps. Most of all, I cannot see him being a 3 down starter. I think he’s best suited as a rotational, single assignment. I don’t think he slips that far, but he’d find his best success on a team with deep DL depth like Philly.

Williams is the other DT I covet.

Both will walk into the league better than Osa has ever and will ever be.

I like Nolan but it seems to be a mixed bag of opinions if he plays hard full time or not. Some question his motivation. I do not know much about that but I do know he has a lot of ability. Now some question Stewart for the same reason...difference is Nolan has more production than Stewart. Both have higher ceilings, but Nolan has the better floor as well IMO.

I really like Ty Williams from Ohio State and D Harmon from Oregon.

But there are plenty of DTs and especially 1 techs in this draft.

I think they are going for the 1 techs more than 3 tech. I think they Got Osa and Solomon to give him some rotation to help him stay fresher at the end of the season.

But again, just off the top of my head there are plenty of DTs worth drafting whether 1 or 3 techs or a combination.

D. Harmon
Ty Williams
CJ West
Darius Alexander
TJ Sanders
Alfred Collins
O Norman Lott
Deone Walker
Jordan Phillips
Joshua Farmer
Aneas Peebles
JJ Pegues
Ty Hamilton
Cam Horsley
Nazir Stackhouse

He’s a top 30 visit isn’t he? The off thing is that they just signed Osa which they rarely like to double dip
I figure Dallas will be looking to draft a one technique Defensive tackle since they signed Osa and brought in Soloman Thomas .Kenneth Grant in a trade down in the the 20's or Tyleik Williams at 44 or Alfred Collins in the 3rd I like Grant the best but all can play the nose and help our Linebackers.
