WR Seems to be the Likely/necessary choice at 12

I wouldn't draft a WR before the 5th round, if at all, honestly. The entire draft, minus a RB, needs to be defense. CB, LB, Edge, DT. All are needs. Between Tolbert, Mingo, the Paris kid and they one they drafted last year, we can make due at WR if the QB can make decent throws and doesn't need 20 yards of seperation to get the ball in there.
WR is a way bigger need than edge. Parsons, Kneeland, Williams, and Fowler is a good rotation.

This team can't go wrong by picking any position with the 1st Pick, but WR seems to be position we are most desperate at filling.
Cee Dee is the only legit receiver we have and we don't even have a #2 on the roster.
We have people we can elevate to 2 but they are 3/4 at best.
We for sure could use a Safety, CB, DE, OL, or DL but the need of finding a complement to Lamb is vital.
The Cowboys should have their pick of the top WR's at 12 and might be able to trade down a few spots and still grab one.
If we wait until the 2nd, we will likely be selecting a #2 at best as opposed to selecting a legit 1/2 at pick 12.
So Taco and Mazi were the right choice?

Sound logic, but we got a fantasy football type of GM so I dunno.
Not even close. Better revisit the last few drafts.

Last 4 drafts he took a TE in the 2nd and a WR in the 3rd.

Just 2 picks in 4 years on day 1 and day 2.

so this will be a finesse team. Grabbing a wr doesn’t exude this “violent” play they are talking about.

Pickens is one of my favorite WRs. I don't see that happening, though. Too costly for the Steelers.

That would be a steal; no pun intended.
Reason Steelers would consider it is it's the last year of his deal and then he probably wants close to 15 million a year. They would only do it if they have zero confidence in resigning him. In that scenario moving up 9 spots for a QB is worth it for only giving up a player that you don't even plan on resigning.

Just posted this in the draft section, but how about if Steelers look to trade up to 12 for QB

Dallas gets - 21, George Pickens and 123 (4th rd)
Steelers get - 12
Would only be a one-year rental on Pickens so depends on if he wants to play the full year and test the open market or if you can get him right now on a reasonable extension like 3 years 35 million. If he was traded here, he might consider it since a #2 WR for the cowboys hasn't eclipsed 800 yards since 2021 so unlikely playing out 2025 will skyrocket his value.

If we don't take a RB before receiver, that will tell you that Jerral and Schotty were lying about run game focus.

Which of course they were.
If we don't get a stud RB in this draft, forget about next year. We keep forgetting the missing important position for our success. No more dumb running back by committee. Get a #1!!!

I read a combination of mock drafts today - and the pic that just kept coming up was Omarion Hampton. North Carolina. Running back..

I stopped following college football religiously when Lou Holtz retired. I’m just a casual observer. I got better things to do on Saturdays.

I’ve never seen this guy, but people seem to love them. I also love what I’ve read aboutthat running back from Ohio State. I wouldn’t mind grabbing him in the second round and taking an OL or DT in the first.

A lot of very good WR's in this draft. I would rather they trade down into the late teens-early 20s range, pick up a 3rd round pick (to make up for having no 4th) and take a receiver there. In other words, if a WR is not the best player available at 12, don't draft one just because they need one.

Also wouldn't mind moving down in the 2nd round to pick up a 4th. Then they will have 12 picks (a 1, a 2, two 3s, a 4, two 5s, two 6s, and three 7s.) Can fill a lot of needs there instead of just reaching on a Matthew Golden or Emeka Egbuka.
That thinking will get us missing out on alot of good players. No way in hell would I take a chance and move down in the second. I would move up. How many times has teams above us in the second round snatched a player we really needed? Many times IMO

No, it's not wrong.
By the time we get to 12, the TOP player at DLine will likely be gone.
Mason Graham is the only consensus DL worthy of a TOP 15 Pick, all the rest are rated as late 1st round prospects.
If we go there, we will be reaching and overdrafting.
With WR, the TOP players will likely be available at 12. Hunter will be gone by then but all the other Top ranks should be there.
By going WR at 12 you not only fill a need but you are doing so by not reaching.
No, we wouldn't. There are several DTs rated 1st round, not just late first round.

Value of draftees is not some black and white objective thing. There are many many factors involved. Relying on some weird grading system is what's been getting us into trouble. BPA is a fan thing, no GM would use such a simplistic tool

More WRs does not fix the run game, so it'll be more of the same, losing because we can't stop the run. When will the misery end?

You'll get your way, I'm sure, unfortunately Jerry thinks like that also. More WRs, more WRs, more CBs, more TEs. It's madness.

When the last game was played the biggest need wasn't a WR, so it's funny now ppl are saying this. 1T, CB, RB are bigger needs...I could even throw in RG. Add in the fact that the available WR at 12 aren't to to level of years past, so the Cowboys would be reaching with first pick. Your not getting a Micah Parsons impact more than likely this draft.
Maybe Mason Graham or Abdul, but those guys will be long gone.

This WR class has no studs, no one really worth a 1st rounder. You can take an Ayomanor or Tai Felton in the 2nd or 3rd and get about the same level as any 1st rounder.

I like Hampton a lot. He'd be a good 1st rounder. To all those clamouring endless for BPA, good chance it will be Hampton. Rated higher than any WR in this draft.
