Broaddus's price to trade up for Hunter

You probably have to move up to 3/4 at the latest to get Hunter. There is absolutely no chance it wouldn’t cost you 12 and next years 1st plus more.

Absolutely horrific idea for a roster that isn’t close to being ready for a playoff run.
I don’t like this idea of building a roster because you aren’t close. It doesn’t take long to contend in this league. Things change year to year. The objective is to add talent. Now I wouldn’t for Hunter. He’s a great player but is he a great receiver? Or a great corner? I think he’s a better corner than receiver but I don’t think you trade up for a corner.

I'd rather give up next year's first than this year's second. The gamble you take is on improving after having an injury-plagued year.

Probably would have to give up both, though. But I'm not against trading up since I believe there are only four bona fide game-changers in this draft. (Yes, there will be others, but these are the ones expecting to be.)

Plus, we need a corner and wide receiver. Getting a player who can do both (but granted that he'd need rest on both sides of the ball) is worth the trade to me.
Problem is you risk a potential franchise changing player giving up next years first.

For me to even consider this I have to be sure Hunter would be impactful at two positions. I do agree I expect next years one to be top 10. No doubt Jerry would consider it though on jersey sales alone.
He’s gonna have to chose one. You can’t play both at a high level let alone develop at 2.

No way. For one thing, that next year's #1 might be a really high one.

But also, Broaddus is insane if he thinks it would only cost your #2 and a 3 next year to move from 12 to the top 5. What is he thinking?
They were talking on the draft show if he fell to 4 or 5. Pick 44 was close to the value to get up to #5

I doubt he falls past NE, but if he did it is worth considering.

Our roster building is the worst part of our team. We draft fairly well except when we reach for need, but we do nothing in FA to make the team better and we wait on resigning our best players to increase the cost.

The best teams in football have high end talent and rosters that are deep without many weaknesses.

We have high end talent at a few positions but also lack talent at a good amount of positions. Hunter doesn’t fix that.

I think itll be cheaper to move up this year, as opposed to years past, because of lack of blue chip talent and QBs in this class
So because there’s a lack of blue chip talent, it will be cheaper to move up for one of the few consensus blue chip talents!
Supply and demand work backwards where you’re from?

FWIW .......read a nugget The Browns are strongly considering Kirk Cousins. They would draft Hunter and trade for Cousins on draft day. Kind of makes sense if you think about..........of all the free agent QBs recently signed ( Wilson, Rogers ( not signed yet), Stafford, Fields and Donald ) none were considered or linked to the Browns. Means they have decided on a draft pick or have another option in their pocket.

Id do it

And before i get a mob saying “we dont have the luxury to give up draft capital!”, we arent winning anything this year even if they give us twice the amount of picks we have.

Give me the generational talent
Still stupid. Because while you might not win this year how do you plan on putting a team around him when you don’t use FA and trade away a couple of prime picks?

A WR or CB isn’t franchise altering.

That's definitely the risk you take. As I've said, I've kind of change my mind regarding the draft, understanding that the Joneses are not going to do whatever it takes to succeed. No matter if we draft well, it is not going to be enough. Now, I'm just for drafting players who have a chance to be game-changers. They won't win championships here because we won't surround them with talent, but I'd rather have a star to watch then a bunch of good players supplemented with bad ones in free agency.

Now, I don't mind trading up in the top five and getting Carter, Hunter, Graham or Jeanty. At least there's a good chance I'll enjoy watching their individual skills.

Yea this is me .........especially for Hunter or Carter. You are adding both players to the team's ALL-PROs at WR and DE. You can't tell that dominant positional talent doesn't trickle down to the rest of the team.

And even if it doesn't, at this point I just want to watch good players play. I know a lot of our fans get tired of Parsons' antics, but I enjoy the challenge other teams have in handling him. I enjoy watching teams try to cover Lamb.

If the Joneses aren't going to fix our holes in free agency, then I'm not going to worry about trading down or drafting this player or that player and trying to patch all of them in the draft because it just isn't possible. Just give me some Cowboys who I can be proud of as I watch their Hall-of-Fame careers get wasted here.

I'd absolutely love to see us go up for Carter or Hunter and I just no longer care about the price. Is getting a solid RB with that second round pick we'd have to give up going to make us a Super Bowl contender? Is adding an offensive lineman in the first round next year going to? Go for the marquee player while you have the chance.

To me, this is how you take advantage of your ALL-PRO players. I mean, it's not hard for a team to use accessive resources to limit an ALL-PRO impact, but give him another ALL-PRO positional teammate, and watch opponents have nightmares (lol).
See.......Dware and Vonn Miller win a SB
See......Bengals now have Higgins and Chase
See .....Eagles AJ Brown and Smith

I don't disagree. Over the years i'll give this team their due. When they lost Diggs they put in Bland or took him from slot and didnt' miss a beat. They managed well when guys got hurt.

I think this teams issue is stopping the run. I think that would fix a lot of their weaknesses in itself. Now that's a generic way to say we have weaknesses. I honestly don't know why we can't stop the run its been years that predate this group. I still remember Kris Richard chewing out Jaylen and LVE. That was YEARS AGO. We know we have a interior issue but I can't say Mazi is strictly to blame for our issues. Sure he's a big part of it because his job is to consume blocks and allow for others to work. But those runs on the edge? I dont' konw if I can say that's Mazi.

True. In some ways, I hate it for our players because when we do get one great one at a position we rarely pair them with anyone who can elevate their game by taking some of the pressure off them.

Parsons has to fight through double and triple teams because no one else demands a double. Lamb has to beat double and triple coverage because no one else demands a double.

Going up and trading for those guys don't seem to work very well in this league. Not sure if its worth it. Seems like its best to follow your board then to trade up for a guy.

Notice though 2 out of the 3 were via free agency or trade. Then there's Higgins and Chase....which....I mean they stink right now as a team but that duo did make a SB.

I agree with you. But are we sure that standing pat won't get us a game changer? I've seen some scenarios where 1 or 2 do fall to us. But right now its tough to know because we have no idea what's going to happen with those QB's. Giants are kind of screwing things up not going QB.
