Historic picture of Tom Landry

Both of my grandfathers also served in WWII. All 3 were from deep South Texas from the Rio Grande Valley and proud fellow Texans!

Salute to all our veterans (part of the Greatest Generation) who fought to save the world during World War II.
Both of my grandparents came of a boat in the early 1900's. Both grand fathers killed in the coal mines when their sons were off fighting in WW2.

Different times.

Uncle Bill WW2 Navy
Uncle Pete WW2 Army KIA Belguim
Uncle Fred WW2 Army
Uncle Andy WW2 Army
Uncle Fritz WW2 Army

Uncle Ed Korea
Uncle Mike Korea

Dad enlisted in 1952, all of his brothers were going to beat the living crap out of him if he didn't enlist in the Air Force, seriously. After 24 years in,
my dad was happy with his choice LOL

I'm just glad my father and I could convince our son to enlist. My dad was kind of ticked I chose Army, but he passed before he knew his grandson
chose the Air Force just because of him and his stories.

I get the fact that we all think men were of a different breed back then, but there are men still making the the decision to serve and
they aren't forced being to.

What does it matter rod, it'll be 105 years until we win another one anyways, why can't a man dream :muttley: :muttley: :muttley: :)
If the Jones family continue to own the team after Jerry takes his rightful place next to Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini then yes we will simply extend our nfc championship appearance streak.

Thank you to you, your son, dad, grandfather and uncles for your service!

I also come from a big military family on both sides of my family. My great grandfather (paternal) served in WWI. A great grand Uncle (maternal) served and died in WWI. Numerous uncles (maternal) served in WWII. On my mom's side, got mix of Spanish/Mexican with Scottish and Native Apache. My great, great grandmother was full blooded Apache, daughter of a Mescalo tribe chieftain. Their Mescalo tribe owned land stretching from all of New Mexico, eastern parts of Arizona, and almost half of Texas on the western side following the Rio Grande River, along with a big portion of northern Mexico south of Arizona & New Mexico flowing southward along the Rio Grande River and towards Eagle Pass (Piedras Negras on the Mexico side) along the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Most of their lands were stolen by the Tejanos/USA and Mexico. Even then, during the Battle of the Alamo, family history has been told from generation to generation that Apache scouts from the Mescalero tribe actually assisted the Tejanos to alert them of the approaching Mexican Army of Mexican General turned President Santa Anna. Word is the Apache chose to help the Tejanos because they could not trust the Mexicans at all. To this day, those Apaches who decided to stay in Northern Mexico do not get recognized as Mexican citizens nor helped at all. A shame. I'm still grateful that my different bloodlines come from having served our country in some shape or another.

Hope someone in the picture can help us win a Superbowl
Men in that picture may have died for our country and always remember there would be no such thing as a Super bowl without the brave men in that picture and men like them.
There's things to poke fun at and things to be respected always know the difference

To be fair to that joke of an owner, it was one of the stipulations of the purchase. They lowered the price so he could afford the team on the condition that he immediately fire Landry.

That he fired him isn't the issue. How Jerry did it showed his lack of class and respect for what came before him.
It shows Jerry for just what he is a businessman not a true fan of the Dallas Cowboys no true fan could have fired coach Landry like that only a cold-hearted businessman

Coach Landry an American hero a man that everyone could look up to who did it the right way at all times
After flying bomber missions coaching a football team in the NFL must have been almost relaxing in comparison.

I guess we were really spoiled having a military trained coach and a military trained quarterback who knew how to operate under pressure.
Sure paid off in all those winning seasons Super bowl appearances and wins.

You think he is coordinating the attack plan, but if there was audio, he really was just showing his fellow crewmen his ideas for a 4-3 flex defense and shotgun offense. :muttley:

Landry was one of the prime architects of the original 4-3
which made Sam Huff a HOF
