I can't believe we are going to be paying him $18,125,000 for being one of the worst RT's in the NFL. Dude really had 1 good year (contract year) and Jerry Jones overpaid for him. With how bad our offensive line was last year I am very surprised we didn't attempt to address that in FA.

Our thing is to see if the NEW coaching staff can get him to play better, we shall see. If we draft a OT high in the draft, that has to mean something for the left or right side, I don't think they're ready to give up on Guyton yet after having only 1 year in

they paid him for one good season, then injury. now he has zero lateral movement, specially to the inside, where he gets beat often. he has lost power in run game, which was one of his strengths. but Jerry will keep him to the end of the contract. that's what jerry does. jerry hates to pay for a position twice, so he will keep players regardless of their ability to play until contract runs out. he hates dead money on the cap, as we are 29th in the league in dead cap money. so Steele is here to stay. unless he really stinks it up this year, that he can then dump him with minimal cost to the cap. if he cuts him this year, it breaks even. guyton is the LT. even if he struggles, they are going to spin it and keep him there. this team is run for money and money reasons only, not football reasons.

Honestly i wish he was a june 1st cut but he is decent in the run game. If he has to be kept Id move him inside or make him a the swing. I guess well see who gets picked up at the draft. Waletzko and richards need to probably show something in camp as well. It cant be a glowing endorsement that they cant unseat him regardless of the $$

They paid him just prior to the start of his walk year.

It’s tough to make that type of mistake, eat it, then sign a replacement of significance.

He just isn’t that good. He played acceptably but nowhere near enough to have earned that contract. I suspect they wanted to pat themselves on the back for a UDFA starter.

The people running the team aren’t good ar their jobs is the bottom line.

He will be 2 years back from his injury. They are willing to see if he is back to form. He has that contract. And a new coaching staff and schemes.
He will the the starting RT.

He was raw, but showed promise, improved each year. If he can get back to that form he was when he was given that contract he will be considered a bargain.

I am willing to wait and see. However, if an OT drops to us, and is the right pick. The they can't pass that or any player up, that goes for any position.

he has never been the same since his injury. Reality
he was an excellent run blocker and so so pass blocker; which we could win with
now his run blocking is dropped off and he is worse in pass blocking
this has nothing to do with coaching

He was coming back from a major knee injury last year, let's see how it goes this year....

We are the worst run franchise in the NFL. 31 other teams would have cut Steele and saved the cap space.

Agree, No, he has not been the same since his injury.
But many fans on here say all the time, it takes 2 years. Well it has been 2 years now.

That is all I am trying to say. And, take an OT if they are in the draft.
It is all they have for now.

New Coaching staff? Wasn't Schotty his coach? Did he coach him to play poorly?

A few issues the Cowboys have with moving on from Steele. There really should have never been a discussion about moving on from him this year.

1) Like it or not he was by far the best Tackle on the roster a season ago.
2) His salary really isnt that bad. He is the 26th Tackle by AAV at $16.5M per year. That is lower level starter money on the open market, and roughly what they would have had to spend on just a similar level player in free agency.
3) The 2025 cap hit to cut Steele isn't that significant. Its a much more beneficial financially to cut him after this season if they wanted to go that route.
