Mukuba played safety last season for Texas, but he does have nickel corner experience while at Clemson. Eberflus scheme calls for his nickel corner to be a big part of his run defense and plays a ton of zone coverage. When I watch Mukuba, I see a player similar to Donovan Wilson but with better coverage abilities. He is a player to watch on day 2 and was a 30 visitor.

I love Mukuba. I was hoping for him in 3 rather than 2 but his stock does seem to be on the rise. I didn't watch him at nickel but I've heard he was much better at S rather than nickel.

Correct.

If drafted he likely takes Wilson’s spot.

Any of their 30 visits could easily be drafted. I still want to know who the other 11 are. The Cowboys are getting good at hiding things.

he probably fails our scouts height and weight requirements but he is shows up big when it matters.

I was watching Broaddus and Voch. They said he is a good slot corner … but all of his big plays come from safety. Likely knocks Wilson or hooker off the team
I’d be good with that. Still expecting Wilson to be a June 1 cut.

The key statement you made is playing a lot of zone. He is better with his eyes on the QB and playing downhill. Very intelligent player and has played a ton of football. He's a physical 5'11'' and likes to thump, but sometimes that aggressiveness he plays with can get him in trouble with angles...just needs to tone it back at times and be in control. If we are able to trade back in the 2nd, he could very well be the targeted pick. It wouldn't surprise me that the Cowboys would like him in the slot, but also to move around in the secondary a little too. He can play both safety spots as well as the slot...the thing to remember is with the rule changes over the last several years when it comes to tackling, we are seeing teams are liking to have their safeties' being able to cover first overall compared to the enforcer types.

He does remind me a little of Wilson with his angles and his aggressiveness but he is far better in coverage, especially as you said facing the qb in zone.

I have seen him being ranking around our 3rd rd pick, but probably goes ahead if that. What we need is to target this type of instinctive players

Not big enough to be an NFL safety playing like he does. He's the type to play a few good games, get hurt and have a cult following about what he could've been.
Isn’t he like 5’11? There’s all kinds of safeties in the league around his height.

Tyrann Mathieu has been a stone cold killer for a while now, and he’s like 5’9. Winfield Jr might be the best safety in the league and he’s like 5’9.

He has 943 career reps as a deep safety, 357 snaps in the box, and 697 reps in the slot. In 2023 while playing primarily in the slot he allowed a completion percentage of just 54.3%.and a passer rating of 64.9. His passer rating in 2024 with Texas was just 15.5 with an 88.8 PFF grade, including an 89.7 grade in coverage.
With the injuries we had last season in the secondary it would sure be nice to have a player who can give us some flex and play multiple positions.

Seems like there is always 1 versatile db in every draft, Branch most recently. In today’s game such an advantage having such a player

I said his size. Size isn't just about height. Secondly I said if he plays the way he did on college but you conveniently left that part out. Tyrann doesn't play reckless. Neither does Winfield but if you think you made a point sure thing
