Mickey: Time to Fill Up the RB Tank

With every pick, they should draft a punter. I mean, it won't make a bit of difference at this point.
lonnie you a little down on the franchise my friend? i mean, i dont have much hope, but i have little. I read this post of yours and im just glad i already had Easter dinner. hang in there pal. Jerry says he can accomplish anything and everything!!

So run a guy into the ground for four years that may or may not live up to the hype, only to not want to pay him a market setting rate if he lives up to it...

Just sounds like spending a 1st on such a guy is a mistake when you can get a similar guy in a later round
I think the best thing to do is trade back with Pittsburgh and get Pickens and draft Hampton or Henderson or draft a different position at 21and gamble that Johnson or Judkins is there at 44.

FRPs are for sure fire players in expensive non-QB positions...wr, oline, defenders

Agreed. But the last two, Zeke and Murray, they were running behind really good lines. I don't think we have that now.
It was good enough for Dowdle to average 4.7 ypc last season. Is it great? No, it isn't. Rico wasn't a threat to beat defenses long, so they focused on shutting down the passing game. Get a back in there that threatens a defense and the passing game opens up for Dak and Co, even if ypc decreases. Theoretically of course.

We don’t have a 4th. We have 3 premium picks and he wants to use one to trade up for a RB? When it’s a super deep RB draft and we could use the 3rd in one and fill in other needs at 1 and 2? Come on Mick. Horrible

I’ve been saying all of this for a few years. When the Cowboys are at their best they have a bell cow RB. I hope we get one finally again.
not when you're paying a cow bell of a QB 60 million dollars, you're not paying him all that money to just hand the ball off, we need to get our money's worth

He sold himself to gaslight for Jerry

Respectable

I feel as though he could have written this article three years in a row.

That's what scares me the most. Before the previous two seasons, there were questions regarding the strength of the position.

In 2023 Elliot left but was not really replaced. In 2024 Pollard left but was not really replaced.

Rico Dowdle has left. They have signed two rotational veterans. What is inside the mind of Jerry Jones when it comes to that position.

Jerry adores WRs. Jerry has always disrespected RBs.

Jerry tried to lowball Emmitt Smith after winning a Super Bowl. He called him "a luxury, not a necessity".

He lowballed DeMarco Murray and claimed that "Clepto" Joseph Randle could replace him. Meanwhile, he gave the moon to Dez Bryant

The role of RB, as far as Jerry is concerned, is significantly less important than WR on the field as well as in the marketing department.

I wouldn't put it past Jerry Jones to check of that need by taking a RB in the 6th round.

I heard that just the other day on sports talk radio. He has to be serious, or why else would you say that? If I'm a coach, I let him do it until he realizes he can't. Or it just doesn't work. If I'm him, I stay quiet, and hope to play spot duty at the other position when needed. IMO that would be the best course of action.
Imagine being a wide receiver or defensive back on the team that drafts him. They are working the butts off just to be good at one position and make the team. Then this guy, after never having played a down in the NFL announces he’s going to do both.

He’s going to need the largest football helmet in the world to fit his big head. His first NFL challenge will come the first day of drills vs. his own teammates. You’re right. He should stay quiet. He didn’t.

Isn't the gaslighting ineffective at this point?

Its make believe at this point.

Plus, I've seen loads of posters state they don't care anymore.

The tactic has run its course.

I'll still watch and post...but the gaslighting doesn't work.

Everyone knows Jerry is going to sabotage

Trade back TWICE in the 1st round.

Trade down into the early 20s and pick up an extra 2nd round pick. Then trade down again with KC and pick up a late 3rd, 4th and 2026 3rd.

That would give the Cowboys in this year's draft: (Rounds 1 - 4)...

Round 1: #30
Round 2: #44, early #50s
Round 3: #76, #95
Round 4: #133

That is 6 draft picks in the Top 133 (Rounds 1 - 4).

It doesn't include 7 picks left after the 4th Round (Rounds 5 - 7):

Round 5: #149, #174
Round 6: #204, #211
Round 7: #217, #239, #247

That would be 13 picks overall from Rounds 1 - 7. Absolutely would allow the Cowboys to fill every hole in need, plus double up on a position, two or three.

The key is if both Jerry and Stephen are smart enough to make such trades twice in the 1st round in order to pick up key Day 2 and an early Day 3 draft picks to add to their current 10 draft picks.
