Duke Manyweather on Tyler Guyton

Not saying guyton won’t ever end up being a quality starter in the NFL, but I’ve been warning people for a while that he has a looooong way to go to get there. Strictly based on performance he was closer to a guy that should be battling for a roster spot than an average NFL starter.

Duke played at Humboldt State and coached at College of Redwoods....he must know what he's talking about. We should just cut Guyton, right now. Please share your thoughts.

What does this tell us coming from a guy like him about Guyton???????

Pretty much means Cowboys overdrafted once again in the 1st round. These repeated super costly 1st round mistakes is what keeps seriously affecting the team's ability to rebuild. Tyler Guyton should not have been taken in the 1st round. They keep overdrafting players year after year after year.

Here is a list of every player the Cowboys have overdrafted in the 1st round and in what year during the Jerry Jones era (1989 - 2024):

From recent to latest...

2024: Tyler Guyton
2023: Mazi Smith
2019: no pick
2018: Leighton Vander Esch
2017: Taco Charlton
2015: Byron Jones
2012: Morris ClayBURNED (Claiborne)
2009: no pick
2008: Felix Jones & Mike Jenkins
2007: Anthony Spencer
2006: Bobby Carpenter
2005: Marcus Spears
2004: no pick
2003: Terence Newman
2001: no pick
2000: no pick
1999: Ebenezer Ekuban
1997: David LaFleur
1996: no pick
1995: no pick
1994: Shante Carver
1993: no pick
1991: Kelvin Pritchett

The "no pick" years were where the Cowboys traded those 1st round picks away for veteran players from other teams which most did not pan out. Take a look at all of those "overdrafted" 1st round picks and wasted traded away 1st round draft picks. That is a total of 24 1st round draft picks the Cowboys mistakenly OVERDRAFTED and WASTED in the 1st round out of 36 years of the Jerry Jones owned era. THAT is a big reason this franchise team has failed for so long and continues to fail. It's because this organization STINKS at drafting, especially in the 1st round.

3ish good 1st round picks lol

That's pretty much true of all late 1st rounders.

League wide not just the Cowboys.

None of them have first round grades.
A first round grad and being drafted in the first are two different things.

Guyton didnt have a first round grade, of course most years only abt 14-18 players do.
But it also looks like he shouldnt have been drafted in the first 32 picks.

Rumors were at Oklahoma and the Senior bowl was he was very immature.

Quitting reps, walking off the field etc. I think he matures, but may take 2-3 years for it to click.

Every scout said he was a project. So it may take a few years to hit potential
I recall he took himself out of a game last year after getting his arse handed to him. I thought he just need ti develop, didnt realize he was so mentally soft until during the season.

Main reason I don't want them to trade down, the majority of our bad picks in the first round are at 20 and lower.

So now a true 1st round value are picks 1 - 19 only? 20 or after in the 1st round means they are actually 2nd round picks in value?
