Video: Steve Smith 89 - Matthew Golden

This dude still in here pretending Steve smiths opinion isn't valid but his terrible takes are. Smh. You love to slurp Dane. You think we can't find PLENTY of trash takes from him? Get real. Put you in a room with Steve to study film and you'd get laughed out of the room like a clown.
Didn’t he also love Mingo?

Some of these former NFL players are horrific talent evaluators.

Can’t say for sure on Mingo but I usually do find myself not agreeing with with Smith. Then again, never liked him as a player since he was a hot-headed little turd.

That’s the thing, these guys get pressed into the role of being a talent evaluator when it just may not be in them.

Reality is it’s Steve’s Smith’s opinion - who cares.

I know he was big on Ladd McConkey last year.

Wish we had drafted him over Guyton.
Steve nailed plenty of prospects in the past few years (which is why his channel has grown) but these dudes are mad that he punked their favorite player back in the day or he said their draft pet cat was overrated so they have a vendetta.

Vendetta? Didn’t even know he had a channel.

I didn't mention you but a hit dog will holler. If it didn't apply you should've let it fly but thanks for confirming.
You initially criticized one person and referenced him as dude. I added my two cents which are not in alignment with your view. You then countered negatively with “dudes” which would include me as I was the only other person to respond.

The board has spoken. You can now officially change your handle to stillan*******!

Go to bed child.

If I wanted to respond to you I would've quoted you. Keep hollering. You're not worth an explanation. The board has spoken lol..... you dudes on here crack me up with this mean girls energy.

Steve punked the Cowboys in that playoff game Carolina beat us in back in the day. He roasted Terrance Newman. That is were the Cowboys hate comes from.

Steve knows receivers I would trust him more the most.

Not for nothing, no one is a perfect evaluator. If they were, they would be a GM with a 8 figure paycheck, except in Dallas.

I don't follow Steve, but at least his take is based off his opinion as a receiver and some film review. Beats some posting that hot take stuff from ESPN/FS1 where two people are seeing who can be louder or have an off the wall take.

Even NFL scouts/GMs/ make mistakes too, or overlook, or don't dig too deep in to potential issues.

Paxton Lynch, for example, had the arm and size GMs drool over. But supposedly he wanted to play Xbox over learn the playbook. Can't find that out on just watching tape.

It’s amazing how some of these guys that were so good as players can be so bad as analysts and / or evaluators.

I’m usually not a fan of the guys that think talking louder and using hot takes makes them right.

He annoys me too.

These guys need more plays, less yapping. People saying they don't see his speed based on one play where he should have put his head down and taken off are ignoring plays like the one where he went in motion to the right exploding to sell the deep route and cutting it back into the post. His speed was evident there. He is a really smart player with a ton of nuance to his game.

I would prefer defense in the first, but him and Lamb would be a nightmare for defenses with their ability to play all over the field.

I think what they are saying is, in another draft class, Golden would be a 2nd round pick. In this class, he rises to the top simply because he is the best of a mediocre class.

I think Golden could be an excellent WR2 in Dallas. I would love it if he was 3 inches taller but I think he can be okay playing with CeeDee. I think people are too focused on Golden's combine speed. He ran a very smooth 4.29, In fact, I don't recall even seeing a 4.3 guy look as fluid as Golden when he ran that day. But as I have pointed out a few times, Isaiah Bond had a higher top speed which, to me, makes him a better deep threat if that is what you are looking for. Golden does not appear to play as fast as he clocked at the combine. Still, as a WR2, he has enough to be a credible threat next to CeeDee.

If they take Golden, and Mingo comes around (long shot), the Cowboys will be loaded at WR. Even without Mingo, the Cowboys have Tolbert and Flournoy who I still think could be a good possession receiver.

He was the main one who was right on Cooper kupp too. But they conveniently omit that.

I can understand fans’ concerns and trepidation about taking Golden at pick #12.

It’s definitely a ‘traits pick’ and betting on upside and potential rather than established production.

I’m intrigued and excited about pairing a clearly ascending player with his skills with our receivers coach. The guy that Cooper Kupp credits for his career.
