How long do we wait to draft a RB?

If Dallas waits beyond round 2, there will be a significant fall off. Sadly, Dallas is almost desperate for a RB. Dallas needs a 3-down back, ready to take the reigns in year one. Very risky to assume you can get that player past the second round. Dropping a few spots in round one and taking Hampton would be nice, but Dallas has a lot of holes to fill.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see an RB being taken within our first three rounds in the draft. There are enough really good ones to be had within that area to be proud of what they'd likely turn out to be.

If jeanty is there I’m taking him. People want to talk about the Zeke pick… the zeke pick was successful. We got 4-5 solid years out of zeke. We were a team that ran the ball controlled the clock. That’s how we won games.

Dak was also a far better qb with a run game.

Zeke was a mistake in that draft, plain and simple. The Cowboys should have grabbed Jalen Ramsey in the first and then Derrick Henry in the second. Both players are still in the NFL and playing at a very high level. Zeke, not so much.

Picking RBs in the first round is usually a big mistake. You can find good ones that are way more than sufficient in the 4th.

This is a QB driven league (means passing). Problem is when you have none and then trying to compensate (overspend draft respources) thru other positions.

We won't do that again, hopefully. In hindsight, taking Felix in round 1 that year ended up being a really Tasharded choice.

He was a "luxury" pick the Cowboys couldn't afford. You put him in the game after your power back has worn the defense down with a couple of long drives.

Making him a starter constantly led him to the injury list

The mistake was the way in which he was used, seemingly in all the wrong situations.

In addition, why do you draft a RB in the 1st round if you are never going to commit to a running game?

As an OC, Garrett was easily scared away from the running game. The first time the RB was stopped for no gain, you would be lucky to see another running play in the drive.
