How long do we wait to draft a RB?

Knowing the incompetence of this front office, they’ll convince themselves they can wait until the 5th to get “value” only to be wiped out and not draft a back at all.
They sure love to talk about value!! lol They find value in picking up dirt and washing it out of their hands!

One guy I was just put on to was the guy from SMU or RJ harvey, one of those guys has a MEAN juke step!
You're probably talking about Harvey. Small quick guy. We already have a guy like that on the roster. :)

The guy from SMU, I don't even see him listed in the top 5 rounds according to the big board I'm looking at.

I'm not going to fart around waiting to see what RBs fall to us in the 2nd and 3rd round. I'm taking Hampton at 12 and crossing the RB problems off my list.
And then I just may pull the trigger on another RB in round 5.

totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't take the chance on losing one

i hope they don't wait to long.
they could stretch it to the 5th if they wanted...maybe 6th.
but i hope we get one in the 2nd or 3rd.
its still a major need regardless of the f/a moves.

For the record, I firmly believe a RB round 1 is a waste when you can get above average starter later and pick a starter at another position in round 1.

RBs are everywhere nowadays.

Not on the Cowboys. You're not getting an above average starter after round 3. You're going to be surprised on how fast RBs are going to go off the board in this draft.

If we trade down and get one i'd be happier with that

I'm guessing much later than they should have. I would predict 6th round and they check off that "need".

I'm very much in favor of drafting two serious RBs. What I mean is neither one is a "specialist" used for certain types of plays or just some big blocking back.

I want two RBs that are capable of competing for the starting position. In my opinion, this is where the Cowboys have the weakest position on their roster and it has been that way for years.

The highest ranking the Cowboys have received in rushing yards over the previous 4 seasons is 14th and that is a disgrace. A strong running has always been a part of the Cowboys identity from the very beginning.

NFL football has changed over the years but it hasn't changed over the weeks. I saw what I saw in January.

I strongly believe that the Cowboys will do a little trading and won't be shut out in the 4th round. Therefore it would be relevant for me to say that I want 2 RB's drafted in the first 4 rounds.

This has been done before. In 2008 the Cowboys drafted Felix Jones in the 1st round and Tashard Choice in the 4th.

And throw in a few monsters for the O-line in the 6th and 7th rounds.
Hard agree; some options for competing backs with complementary styles (presuming we trade to get a 4th):

2nd: Henderson
4th: Harvey

2nd: Sampson
3rd/4th: Blue

It's something I'd be willing to risk. I'm trying to look 2-3 years down the road...not one.

I can see them going in many directions. And I'll just have to trust they did more homework than I did. I'm just an armchair "scout" AKA year-round fan.
