Jane Slater: The three names I keep hearing to the Cowboys in round 1

Is the character concerns they are lazy or they are thugs? Because of its the latter I could care less. Jalen Carter has character concerns and no cares when you win. If they are lazy then stay away.
One of the knocks I've read are that Nolen takes some plays off when he's out there, but I don't know how much they played him, so maybe he did that instead of leaving the field for a break.

The other is that he's not a good locker-room guy. I don't know if he's just not very social or disinterested.

He showed he has the skill to succeed, but the concerns are about the attitude.

It doesn't seem like they've had any luck drafting players from Ole Miss lately. I might add they've all had character issues.
We've drafted one players from Ole Miss (Sam Williams) in the past 24 picks. He's the only player we've drafted from Ole Miss since 1995. We've drafted more players from Southern Miss in that time frame.

Kenneth Grant..
I like Nolen more than Grant abilitywise. I think Grant could be a high-end NT, but Nolen could be a high-end 3-tech. In this defense, 3-tech is the engine that drives the car.

I initially wanted him at 12, but the concerns about him made me back off. I don't really trust the Cowboys to vet those concerns, though, so if they took him, I'd have to cross my fingers and hope. I think at worst that he'll perform well in spurts.

Yeah that type of chatter…I’ve heard before and want nothing to do with it.

That would be a waste of draft capital at 44. Martinez is better for the NFL.
I like Martinez a lot as well. I'd prefer a lead Rb than a committee. But I don't see Tuten as a waste of resources. Teams pay a premium for players with elite athleticism + production because they can change games with a single play. I'd expect both him and Henderson to go pretty high in this draft for that reason.

The Lions have shown that there is a huge benefit to having a gamebreaker at RB, especially paired with a complementary skillset. While the complementary guys can be found throughout the draft, the athletes almost always go high.

There are players with character concerns who have had great NFL careers and players who lived down to those concerns. It wouldn't bother me until there's reason for it to bother me.

Means they probably arent going to kick DE's inside on passing downs anymore. It would be Nolen and Odighizuwa. Means both will be on the field about 65% to 70% of the time. Smith would probably play on run downs
That is a big part of our run D problem.

Nolen has his best football ahead of him but he makes me nervous,it's would rather have Golden.ideally these guys need to be drafted in a trade down.

The NT is the frame of the defense vehicle dude
if he sucks you can have the best 3T around and it will not matter
your fancy engine is just going to sit on the pavement without a frame

same for me.we couldnt make Mazi work, not sure we have the locker room to motivate aloof players.i too like Nolen but all these reports from Mcginn scared me.

I think another name to look out for is Travis Etienne. If the Jags go Jeanty with their first pick, I think you’ll see name on the trade block.
