The winner of the 1st round is Deuce Vaughn

No. You know he hasn't. When has he had a chance? Which game did McCarthy put him in for plays designed to get him in space? NONE.
We’ve already been through this. He can’t block or break tackles. He takes losses but you want him to get at least 8 carries a game. That’s what you told me. That’s what Dowdle was getting before he became the starter. Dowdle was breaking tackles and making plays.

Vaughn will still be here even if they draft a running back because he’ll have the inside track over Williams and Sanders. He also can play special teams. Cowboys could double up though having ten picks.

Lol come on, people are acting like our oline was horrible. Dowdle had over 1000 yards at 4.6 ypc
Dowdle had a nice year, but Zeke 3.1, Cook 2.5, Leupke 2.4, Vaughn 4.1ypc. Longest rush of the year was also for just 27 yards. Dowdle had some nice success on those outside zone runs, but the OL really struggled to block at the 2nd level. Teams were also able to shut down a good part of the rushing attack when they needed to....look at the Tampa game, and look at situational running all year. Horrible in the red zone, not to great on 3rd/4th and short either. 4.6 is decent, but 1000 yards on a 17 game schedule is pretty standard for a starting rb.

If he needs special plays designed to get him in space as a runner then he’s not the answer. They designed some plays for him as a receiver and that hasn’t worked out.

The fascination with the 212th player picked in the draft here never ceases to amaze me.

Fun fact: the Cowboys chose both Viliami Fehoku and Eric Scott ahead of Deuce Vaughn the same year, yet Vaughn is the one guy fans act like wasted the entire draft. And he's the only one of the three that actually played a game for the team.
This might be the best counter I’ve seen to Deuce criticism. He’s shown more than those two goobers.

Those guys struggled because they suck, not the oline

What’s funny is Deuce looked pretty good and way better than Zeke ever did with his very limited opportunities last year.
Deuce was barely averaging 3.0 a carry in his first 4 games last season until the season finale against Washington. They were looking ahead to the playoffs. He averaged 6.2 in that game which got his average up to 4.1 for the season. Usually when a back gets very few carries their rushing average is high but not with Deuce. Felix Jones had a huge rushing average until he started getting more carries. The same with Joseph Randle.

Fortunately I watched the games and I saw the situations he was put in.

When he was in a situation that gave him a shred of a chance for success he looked pretty good.
