Even if the pick is good, the pick is bad.

After all of these years, Jerry has and never will learn a thing. You win with great QB play, there's no getting around that. And Dak is just average at best at that.
For the AFC, sure. In the NFC, not even close. Colin Kaepernik, Nick Foles, Jimmy G, Brock Purdy, Eli Manning, Jalen Hurts, Stafford have all been to the Super Bowls. Also throw in Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan. Those guys listed are not that difficult to find. What is more difficult is a front office with a vision. Almost every guy on that list, had a great defense and valuable weapons on offense. Eagles defense last year smothered teams all year, especially in the playoffs. Rams defense with Stafford, same thing. Stafford never won a thing before the Rams. Why? Not because his skillset increased in LA but because he was finally on a team who was built the right way.

Dallas front office has zero vision. We are in yet another cycle of going all in on the OL. This produced zero results the first time when we drafted 3 OL in the 1st round in 3 of 4 years to get Tyron, Frederick, Martin. Why are we doing this again? Oh yeah, the Jones family vision. You don't need that many 1st rounders on the OL to get the results you want. Plenty of talent on the OL all through these drafts and utilizing free agency. Get you a few really good anchor spots and the rest of the OL will look better around them. Dallas' vaunted OL in the 90s were not all highly drafted players. They were great as a unit, though. I'd love to go around the league to the consistent successful teams and see how much draft capital they are using on OL. I'd say Dallas dwarfs every other team by how much draft resources we use on OL.

How many other valuable roles could we have filled with those picks going to another position?

We now have all this draft capital tied up in one single group, yet we have junk in terms of offensive weapons outside of Lamb. Do we plan on out OL dominating so much up front, we don't need these weapons? Not a recipe of success in today's game unless maybe you have generational talents like Mahomes or Brady? But even they had tons of offensive talent in their days.

Booker has been projected to be taken by us, Bengals, or Seahawks for well over a month. He went around where he was projected to go. It wasn't a reach at all.

You guys have really got to start focusing on the context of a draft rather than keying in on one position. There were offensive line players flying off the board - 5 OL players went in the top 20. Booker was not going to be there in the second, the next two best guards also weren't going to be there in the second. That means we leave the draft with a hole on our offensive line.

A few positions became bigger priorities in the draft due to other positions being weak.

Fine. Not a 2nd round prospect.
But available in the 1st round in the late teens? Yeah.
And we spent a 12 for him.
That's just a lot of lost draft value.

3 *tackles* went off the board before we made the Booker first *G* pick.

What you're describing is drafting for need at a position that is not a keystone position, and doing it with the 12th pick.

And it wasn't even a *need* pick. There was no *hole* to fill. PFF had Hoffman in the top half of league Gs. Top half of the league is not a *hole*. So now we're going to have a thoroughly legitimate league *starter* warm the bench. *More* wasted value.

If you want to talk need, how about need at DT? Mazi is not merely a bust, he's *bad*. And he *starts* for us. And will again.

This pick took Hoffman off the field and left Mazi on the field. *Waste*.

We drafted a guy we felt was a safer pick at a need position lol

I already had this discussion with others. The other pick people were pushing for a freakin' DT that might not even be a three down player in the league. Please actually watch tape and read more reports. This was not a reach and not even a "small reach". He went where he was predicted to go.

Unless you want to give me some names of players that you think are surefire hits that makes the our pick illogical, you're just basing this on emotion.

I gave reasons. You ignored them and went directly to ad hominem.
*plonk*
You excused away the guard hole we have by gassing up Brock Hoffman

....ranked 44th and only played 7 games. He was decent last year and played at backup level. He's not starter quality. I am asking you to give me a list of names on who we should have taken rather than Booker.

You

Can't compare Jerry to the machine the Eagles have created. I hate the Eagles with every ounce I have but they are light years ahead of old man Jerry
True true. But Even the Chiefs haven’t drafted an OL in the first round since Fisher in 2013.

This waste all your draft capital on the offensive line strategy is worst than the old Al Davis strategy of drafting any WR that looked fast.

We have already seen the cowboys do the Oline craziness to the point of having one of the best Olines at one point, with nothing to show for.

Oline will not help the QB we currently have behind center. Fans saying we need oline must have not gotten the memo regarding the previous years.

So are we just accepting building yet another oline for Dak, one and done in the playoffs, if not miss the playoffs, and then the whole oline is gone in 4 years or so.......and then the cowboys draft another olinemen in the first again just to start the shenanigans all over again?

Are we going to continue to convince our selves that oline is a need in order to make ourselves feel good about the situation?

Some of you are insufferable.
No O-line, no winning, ever

Lol that last line was gold. Until then I thought you were serious. Very well done.
