Chad Reuter expects LB Shemar James to be a starter

I don't see it with James. One of the more head scratching moves of the draft for us, especially trading up for him.

Eberflus wanted him bad according to a nugget.......maybe he sees a potential starting MBLer

Shemar James is a special teams player at best. He is an undersized LB just like Overshown . These smaller LBs working the middle are more prone to injury.

Not quite sure on the somewhat lacking 1st and 2nd levels of run defense with a questionable DT1 and a light in the *** LB.

Your welcome to disagree. They obviously liked a linebacker that scouting reports say he sucks vs run, only 164 tackled...in 3 years. Yay a coverage lb who gets blown up in the run game....as if the biggest weakness wasn't the run game to begin with. So exciting.

Some fans need to go back and watch the Florida games with James. Undersized, yes, good coverage guy against TEs and #3 WRs, great blitzed and ST player. Is he a 1st round guy, nope, but he will help this or any team mainly because he plays hard regardless of the score and to the final whistle.

I read that he was asked to cover the #3 Wr which is amazing to me. I am sure this has factored into his "poor" pass defense grade

Just remember when you watch Mingo. They got him for pick 114. He should contribute. They also got Milton, the Bills corner, and the Titans linebacker in this draft. 12 players, plus the undrafted free agents in this draft.

Shemar James would be lucky to make the 53. James is a 5th round pick, so again he'd be lucky to make the team. In addition, what does he bring to the LB room they don't have?

It's all on him. He's got to study and take to the coaching to have a chance. Truthfully, as much as I like his upside, I like Mongenson more. He's a young linebacker on special teams and he's Scrappy. I like our LB room.
