Your projected 2025 starting lineup

Yeah its a real possibility that he wont even make the roster this year.
I'm thinking he doesn't. We've got Parsons, Kneeland, Ezeiruaku and Fowler for sure, and I think we'll keep Turner to play a run-down end role, so that would make five. Maybe we'll be able to trade him for a late-round pick, but he have to show enough in camp for someone to bite.

How? Lets just break it down.

Safeties - Same pair, year older. Worse
Corners - Lost 1 starter. Another wont be ready until who knows when after the season starts. Key backup out longer than that. We added a cast off and a rookie who we hope will be ready. Far worse shape than last year.
LB - Worse. Kendricks was about all we had until Overhown flashed. Now hes coming off injury, who knows when. We added two meh's.
DE - Push with a chance to be better. Lawrence will be missed.
DT - Push. But we suck.

Offense a push. Booker doesnt give us much, IMO. Cooks wont be missed. I like Tolbert and think he can be a 2. Mingo and Campbell are unknowns.

QB - Slightly worse. Dak a year older and coming off injury.

RB - Push. Blue isnt Gibbs. Everyone else is meh.

TE - Could be better if Schoon takes a step.

So yeah, this team is worse. Push at best. Every other team in our div is better. So 6 wins it is.
De a push lol ok. Dlaw is finished

Blue will be RB1
Ezieruake starts over williams
Toia may start over Mazi
WR2 is not on the roster yet
If guyton stinks up the preseason it will be
Tyler Smith -LT
Booker -LG
Beebee -C
Robert Jones -RG
Steel -RT

11 wins...

The pass rush will be infinitely better and that was the main reason for those 12-5 seasons. They weren't stopping the run during those years either. Last years pass rush was terrible after losing fowler, DA and Sam getting hurt. That alone makes them better.
DA? Sam Williams averages 4 sacks a season, been a huge disappointment so far, and honestly seems Fowler is averaging a double digit sack season every 5 years, his other years have been nowhere near as good.
The pass rush is still a huge question mark

Offense is probably fine, assuming Booker plays well, but the defense is still porous up the middle. Going to be a long year if they can’t stop the run.

Sam Williams isn't going anywhere. He is a lock for the 53.
I wouldn't be too sure about that. Parsons/Kneeland/Fowler/Ezeiruaku are going to be locks. It creates a real competition for that last spot with Williams/Turner/Wheat. Good chance they may elect to take a better run defender given than Parsons/Fowler/Ezeiraku are all pass first guys. Solomon Thomas also gives you some extra position flex if they wanted to just keep 4 Edge guys and go heavy inside keeping two of the three in Toia/Akingbestote/Rogers.

IMO excluding injury Williams feels like a coin flip at best to make the roster at this point.

Yeah all of this.

Cowboys typically keep 9 Dlineman on the 53.

(1)Micah, (2)Don E, (3)Fowler, (4)Kneeland, (5)Osa,(6) Mazi, (7)Thomas, (8)Toia/Backup 1 tech…9th is up for grabs.
Williams being a pass rush specialist that is AT BEST 3rd in line for that job may very well put him behind the 8 ball for the last roster spot. He’s for sure going to have to embrace special teams to grab a roster spot.

Projection has a way of being rearranged by time. Injuries and underperformance happen. I see no merit in that projection.

Yep he could end up trade bait at some point if he can flash a little bit in pre season. Same situation on the other side with the OL depth. Might see a surprise cut or trade in a Bass or Hoffman.

It's nice to stockpile these mediocre players to see if anyone can rise up, but the roster math doesnt go away.... There are gonna be a lot of pet cats that get cut this year.
