RELEASED Cowboys waived four players, including Malik Davis

The Malik Davis deal was a little weird. I thought the kid had a little something. I would text the guys on the Fan and ask what the deal was with him. More than one guy said the team was mad at him for not going into a game once. I would reply Then cut him! never got a reply to that. Imagine keeping a guy on your roster but not playing him, to spite him. lol sounds very Jerry.
Yeah there was word out a couple years ago that Davis was pissed off and complaining about not getting any playing time. The coaches didn't like him complaining so he didn't really get any time. In my opinion when he did play he looked better than Zeke. Davis and Dowdle should of been splitting carries and Zeke never should of been brought back. I think there is a lot of favoritism on the Dallas team because in no way should Deuce still be on the team over Davis.

Agreed

I get what you’re saying even though you missed the my point. Those kind of players should be cycled through regularly. They don’t move the needle.
He was cycled. He was practice squad for a year, one year on the 53 man and then cut

I was sorry to see that Malik Davis wasn't afforded a better chance to make this team's roster. It seems to me that his play during last year's preseason was worthy of sticking around for 2025. I don't see where his play justified allowing his being released, considering his scant playing opportunities. Ultimately, I think Jerry will regret letting him go, in favor of keeping Deuce -- a big mistake.

What's up with all the Malik Davis lovers? What's he done to garner praise? Each to their own I guess, but I'm struggling to see how it's such a loss , him being cut.
I guess nobody remembers that '22 playoff game when Pollard got hurt and Davis missed a couple of blitz pickups that got Dak hit and we had to go with pitiful Zeke the rest of the game.

I would have released him after that and never had him back.

He had chances. Not enough but he just never seized the job

To totally fair, neither did Deuce, imho. He runs were often stymied.

I honestly believe Malik would have won out, if he had more action.

Like most rookie RBs, Malik needed development for blitz pickups.

He was a one cut runner. Straight line.

Decent speed.

Scrub.

Deuce likely fits the running scheme better. It’s being overlooked that Riley is the guy that coached Vaughn to 3600 yards (34 TDs) + 1280 receiving yards (9 TDs) in 3 years.

How much cap have we wasted on Malik Davis? We continue to waste cap on Matt Waletzco… why JJ… why??
Is there another NFL team who hangs on to their late round JAGs more than the Cowboys? Guys who were drafted on a wing and a prayer and literally 2-3 years later have done absolutely nothing kept instead of churning them out so we can pick up another long shot

I believe in being patient with long shot developmental players. But not for three years.

I agree but if you listen to some here it’s well he didn’t make much and it’s only a few years salary so it’s ok. That few years salary could have been used more productively to churn roster or actually maybe even sign a decent FA.
