Ian Fitzsimmons on Tyler Booker

It’s about two minutes long, starting at the 10 minute mark.

The more I hear about the kid the more I think they drafted a future team captain and leader for the Oline. I think part of this pick was to have a positive impact on the rest of the lineman, especially Guyton.
No issues with a meat and potato pick at 12 that could be a multi-pro bowl type player. This team problems last year were not being able to run the football and not being able to stop the run. I'm not convinced the right tackle is healthy and he seems like a huge liability in pass protection and I don't think we have done much to address stopping the run either. The cowboys will get 50+ sacks but may give up 135 yards a game on the ground.

Randy was tremendous but there is near 100% chance he would have stumbled in Dallas with that spotlight. Think back to Pac-Man Jones and others.

Greg Ellis had a 12-year career. 84 sacks, 11 fumble recoveries. He was a good run stuffer and pass rusher that was not elite at anything but played at a high level every snap.
I always said had we drafted Randy, Aikman would have played another 5 years!

I remember after the 1998 draft when Dallas took Greg Ellis Jerry said something to the effect he would let Ellis babysit his kids. He was talking about Ellis's character - after passing on drafting Randy Moss. I remember thinking, I don't want my DL to babysit kids. I want them to be mean and nasty. Ellis was a good player. I never thought he was great. He was the 8th pick in the entire draft.

Randy Moss, with his bad character, is in the HoF. He is a great player. And honestly, that bad character never really showed itself much when he played football. How many times did Moss make big plays against Dallas? Too many.

I have no idea what kind of player Booker will turn out to be, but all this leadership and character BS we are being fed on a daily basis means nothing to me. It's great if he can play up to his 12 pick, but if not, he can be General George Patton and it won't make a difference.
Agreed it's start to get a little nauseating. Wish people would give it a rest

Some of you can listen to every opinion everyone has and get swayed by them but it will come down to how he performs once the pads come on. I don’t buy into any player until I see them on an NFL field performing at a high level.

Troy would have hated Randy with a passion.
Cowboys fans have long had this weird romanticism with Moss, but he fell 14 more picks beyond Dalals because the red flags were severe.
Minny gave him a chance to grow up with a much smaller spotlight to pair him with a good veteran WR cast.

Moss skipped he combine because he couldn't pass the drug test.
He was jailed in High School!!
Then his pro career started:
  • 2001: Moss tests positive for marijuana.
  • 2002: While driving in downtown Minneapolis, Moss was preparing to make an illegal turn.Traffic control officer Amy Zaccardi stood in front of his car to prevent him from doing so, and ordered him to stop. Moss did not comply with the Zaccardi's order. He bumped her with his vehicle and she fell. Moss was arrested, and a search of his vehicle revealed a joint of marijuana. Moss was charged with felony Suspicion of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and a misdemeanor for marijuana possession.
  • 2004: With the Vikings trailing 21-18 to the Washington Commanders with two seconds left, Moss walked off the field to the locker room and drew criticism for quitting on his team.
  • 2005: The sixth-seeded Minnesota Vikings traveled to Lambeau Field to take on the heavily-favored Green Bay Packers in the first playoff meeting of the division rivals. Moss caught four passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns. After his second score, Moss jogged to the end zone goal post and imitated mooning the Green Bay fans. Moss was fined $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. Moss is traded to the Oakland Raiders one month later.

So he only got into real trouble twice (one being testing positive for pot) and never suspended. That works in favor of he should have been drafted. And that incident with the cop wasn't until his 5th season.

Seeing those dates make me feel old. Didn't realize the hitting the cop incident was 2002. Though that was later in that decade.

Saahdiq Charles and Hakeem Adeniji were the cheap vet yard sale to cover interior line gross experience. Last year's talent and Booker solves the need and rebuilds in the present. The center of the Dallas is strong now and put back together.

The team has been building up at tackle for the past two seasons. Still needs camp type work under the current staff.
:hammer:

He hasn't been very good? I like Guyton, as a RT.

Booker gives you options with the lineup instead of forcing a square peg in round hole. It's not like Tyler Smith can't play the position or that we don't have guys who can play RG.

I just don't see them leaving Guyton at LT unless he seriously improves...

T Smith, T Booker, T Beebe,
Hoffman/Steele, Guyton

Now that's a lineup. We still have proverbial position flex. Use it.
Agreed 100 percent. To me that is the best way to get the five best linemen on the field. Let Guyton earn it. I would have no trouble putting Smith at LT and Booker at LG. If Guyton can be the RT, trade or cut Steele.

Between Beebe, Hoffman, Jones, Bass, and Charles the Cowboys will find a way to fill C and RG with any two of those guys.

The story about Book calling out the player not sprinting between sessions is a terrific portend.

Do you recall the stories about Irvin and the way he called out the defense in practice every day? Like him of not but Irvin was the motivational player and perhaps one of the reasons Dallas won it all. If this kid shows up and speaks out to get people off their rear ends, does this filter through the playmakers and get this culture straightened out?

This is a great pick.
Since any recent Cowboys HC is subservient to Krusty, any real change in culture HAS to come from team leaders.....let's hope Booker T is one of those future leaders
