Well, the examples are endless and again, we will see this acted, once again, in free agency.

Like Jerry Jones, players just L-O-V-E to sell "FOOL'S GOLD" to fans. Latest example: Miles Garrett

Garrett been saying for a few weeks, he wanted out of Cleveland and play for a Superbowl contender.
And just like that, the "money tree" shook and millions of guaranteed green leaves left into Garrett's bank account.
He re-signs with Cleveland and says screw playing for a Superbowl contender, I can buy my own ring and have
millions left over and my future is beyond secured. Like Zack Martin, the Cleveland Browns will waste a talented DE career.

Selling cliches and pyrite are thrown at fans to lift their hopes, get fans to watch, buy merch and get their butts into the seats
It is a business. And the salary cap continues to climb, players/owners enjoy reaping the benefits, while many fans of teams that continue to see no success, live in future hopes.

Wanting to win for a player was gone with the last century. Do any horses want to win horse races? No, but they run anyway. Players are competitors, so they'll try to win. But it is way down on the priority list for most. Money is now king.

I think it depends on the player. Sadly there are not that many that play primarily for love of the game; and also not many that will go for the chance to win over the dollar sign. But to say all are like that is bogus.

I agree. All are not like that. Maybe 1 out of 100 are not like that. This isn't the 60s and 70s. Players now aren't there to win. They are there for a paycheck. We now have some players that are so rich that they are now looking to win a championship. But that's like 1% of the players. Most just want the money. They don't care about winning. That's today's NFL.

I actually think those that probably love to play the most are the guys fighting to make the practice squad and a chance to play

Cleveland was stupid to pay him, just trade him, they are in a build mode now anyway !
It is insane to pay 1 de that much, when you arent even close to contending, and he aint
getting any younger.

This is exactly what I said when people were shocked the Raiders traded Khalil Mack instead of paying him. You don't give a DE a monster 4 year contract at the start of a rebuild. It's wasted!

A fool is he who buys the fools errand of crying each and every season. This is still football and the Cowboys do compete.

Not slurp snot off other teams and their fans! :starspin: I respect loyalty. Not endless tears no matter what.

Go suck up to a holy tariff...

It is a little similar to jerry paying dak 240 mil, when cowboys are clearly rebuilding.
Dak is aging and has now had 2 bad injuries.
Daks contract just slows things down.
But If they didnt sign dak, and didnt spend that $ in FA, then the team would be worse off ?

Regarding the draft, a poster who I can't remember said it looks like the Cowboys are trying to rebuild and win at the same time. That's kind of true, but they're not fully committed to either.

Giving Dak that contract was a waste. But Jerry sees it differently. I know many would disagree, but I'd rather have Shedeur on this team on a rookie deal over that ridiculous contract Dak got. From what I've heard, he has good numbers in college, and did it without an offensive line.

Well any of the good QB's in this draft or the next, would be more fun and interesting to watch.
That is something jerry doesn't realize is fans get tired of a guy like dak, after 8 years, and all
the publicity makes people just get tired of hearing about him, it is overkill in the media, and that
is all jerrys fault.
Jerry is doing same thing now with Micah and people are already tiring of hearing about Micah.
Too much is simply too much, but jerry thinks it is a good formula, but that formula, the fans
are not buying it anymore.

About shiduer, I never saw him play,so I cant say, but I think the way deion has raised him,
has polluted his mind with a lot of crap, like the legendary nonsense, and I wont play for that team etc. Also He is used to having his dad as HC, and there is no way to know if he can adjust mentally
to the real world in the nfl. I am glad he went to cleveland.

And again on having a cheap QB, that only helps if the GM will actually spend the extra $ in FA !!
If jones boys dont spend it nothing changes, except you have the rookie QB with no FA help lol.
