Could RB Jaydon Blue be Tony Pollard 2.0?

We have severely lack a RB that instantly bring speed and home run threat ability since pre-injury Tony Pollard in 2022.

- Pollard was instant explosive, and impressed the NFL as such that he even earned a Pro Bowl nod.
Too bad the Niners playoff ankle injury completely turned the tide on his Cowboys career.

- But Longhorn RB Jaden Blue might bring his own shade and impression, if he has durability, coach coach scheme and
support cast himself.

- Supposedly 4.2 clock speed at his Pro Day,...4.34 at the NFL combine,...and he had a number of break open plays at UT
Plus he offers some dangerous receiving skills, that we saw far too little from Pollard who never had a chance to develop
in that area under the previous coach staff.

- Opposing defenses really fear the heck outta game-breaking speed guys ..ala Barkley, Gibbs, Henry, James Cook, McCaffrey, etc. if used and utlized right, Cowboys may have some semblance of such explosive weaponry.

I believe Blue is faster than Pollard was. But RBs are more than just speed. I like Blue a lot and love his HR potential. We have to see h ow many snaps they give him and how they use him.

The answer is yes that's his floor long as he doesn't have a fumbling issue he's not just a gadget player he's not just a 3rd down back he can do everything Tony did if they used him correctly and don't try to wear him out that's what happened to Tony it wasn't just the ankle injury they tried to turn $11 million franchise tag Tony Pollard into a full time back and he never was the same even with the Titans he wasn't better than Rico I mean just a good back now you're not supposed to play a guy that much when you can utilize his talents and keep his speed by rotating him in and out at the proper times but not as just a third down back but not using him like a three down power back..

But his ceiling you never know he's got the exact height weight and speed as Jamier Gibbs that's his current NFL comp but yes if we don't want to go that far then we can just call him Tony Pollard and just go from there but everyone that thinks this guy is just a fast back and he's going to be utilized as a wide receiver occasionally on 3rd down is just wrong this is not lucky Whitehead no way shape or form is this a gadget player he didn't get as many snaps as he could have because he was buried behind elite running backs at Texas and they love the spread of the ball around that's why a lot of wide receivers got a lot of love over there and didn't have a big time numbers because they spread the ball around in Longhorn land they have so many weapons all over the offenses that it's hard for one guy to really stand out..

I like them and it's not just because I'm a Longhorn people are going to be surprised this kid is a running back not a gadget player he should be utilized in the two back system and I believe they got those players on this team right now so the answer is yes he's Tony 2.0 but I think he's going to be more like Gibbs if he's utilized properly I mean look at the line and the offense that Gibbs gets to play in over there with the Lions that's why there's a difference that's what you have to hope to build here you get an offensive line that gives creases like that to a guy like blue and he's gone it's not just straight line speed he knows when to cut stop start and yes he can catch the football out of the backfield as well i've seen him make some great catches along the sideline contested catches..

One thing he can do is be an outstanding receiver out of the backfield and he can score from anywhere on the field and this is a guy that they got with pick 149. This draft is outstanding.

Jaydon Blue is going to be better.

He's much more dangerous in the passing game than Pollard.

4th round pick that was a good change of pace back, couple years over 1000 yards would be more than enough to justify a pick in the 4th or 5th.....if be happy if that's what we got out of him

2023: 510 4th (15th in YAC per attempt)
2022: 503 6th (1st in YAC per attempt)
2021: 321 27th (was 6th in YAC per attempt)

People never really gave Pollard credit for how good of a runner he was. He just found a way to make it so someone only got an arm on him then he broke that arm tackle. Pollard consistently had better YAC than Zeke because Zeke would try to run people over.

Blue isn't going to be that guy. He is a traditional scatback. If used properly, he could be one hell of a weapon. Pollard was never a big receiving guy and ran pretty crappy routes while being no impact downfield. Based on everything I have seen, Blue can be a nasty receiving weapon.

The two aren't really similar other than being fast running backs.

Hopefully. There are reasons he didn’t get much play until this year. He has legit all around RB skills just a tad on the smaller side to maybe be a traditional rb1 in the nfl.
