How Good can Javante Williams be?

Williams already has shown he's recovered from the knee. He was never an elite back but he's a very good RB that is difficult to get down. He's basically a better version of Dowdle. Denver just had a bad OL.

Williams looks bigger and faster than Dowdle. Good job finding this video, thr NFL usually blocks stuff like this. Denver’s offensive line looks like the Cowboys before Martin went out with injuries last year.

Yeah this was good. I wish more of this was available for every player.

I watched the 2nd video. There were a couple plays where his speed surprised me. Without watching it again he seems to be able to get to speed quick straight ahead. A little slower coming out of moves.

If you're talking about a.guy you run all game. But if you have a committee, ours is much much better. And with the right guys, more reliable. Plus, this way allows us to focus on other positions.

We've had lots of top backs in Dallas. We've never had any success with the bell cow type. Not since Emmitt.

So, committee it is, which is fine by me. We have bigger worries than to hold out for only the obvious top backs in the draft or free agency

We can find a few jewels in the late rounds and still have a top run game.
“Committee” sounds good but that only works when both RBs can do everything well

If Blue cant run well inside and pass block well, youre telling the defense it will be an outside run

If a RB can run inside but not pass block well, youre telling the defense it will be an inside run

This is why philly and SF and Detroit are great running teams

This is why Chargers picked Hampton

Unpredictability
The defense cant cue in one thing
We wont have it therefore will be less effective as a run team

Our idiot GM does not understand this

I hear you.

But would it be fair to say Rico was good between the 20 yard lines, but rather lackluster when it came to scoring?

I would argue only 2 TDs would statistically demonstrate Dowdle is not a complete back. He had 1,000 yards. So, for every 1,000 yards that he rushed for, he scored 2 TDs.

I mean, you don't have to be a stats nerd to see that is a very underwhelming stat in a very important statistical category--one to consider if you're going to insist a back is "complete."

Because that shows a deficiency in a key area that a back ought to have before they legitimately earn the privilege of being called complete.
No it wouldn't be fair because your trying to change the point. The offense was terrible, Tolbert lead the team in TDs, Dowdle had 5 TDs.

Run, block, catch, and ability to carry the ball 20+ carries if need be. My point was which RB are you giving 20 carries, and trusting to be a every down type RB?. I'm not a champion for Rico, I'm a realistic Cowboys fan. You can't name a guy on the roster better in every aspect of being a RB1 than Rico that's why you're deflecting...just give a name, not a statistical category.

Lol
Bottom line, Rico has been proven in the NFL and was the workhorse for the Cowboys last season. Sanders n Williams didn't come close the Dowdle's production last year (4.6 per carry). So, you're saying 2 rookies will be better, but Blue isn't a workhorse RB, and Rico is better in certain aspects than Mafah, at the very least. You're either too emotional, hard headed, ignorant or you can't read, respectfully. Again, I'm not saying Rico is the greatest, however, he's more complete or more proven then any RB on Dallas roster right now. If you disagree tell me any of these RBs are more complete and/or has ran for 1000 yards in the NFL last season.

Stop trying to attach Blue to Gibbs like that's truth, you want to call me delusional but look at you. Stretching to compare a collegiate RB2, 5th round pick to a #12 overall pick...you, my friend is the one living in delusion. I'm stating fact, meanwhile, you're projecting, horribly.
No he's not there's no bottom line bottom line is he had a one year contract year those are red flags he had one good season in five years I'm sorry dude you're overrating the guy i've never seen a guy so overrating in my life seriously I don't even know where you're coming with this it was a very hollow unfulfilling 1000 yards there were no big runs there wasn't a lot of touchdowns there weren't any game winners I mean 1000 yards is not that hard to achieve anymore if you just give one player the ball over and over and over it was like eating rice cakes get over it i'd rather wait for the Doritos.
I mean dairy mcfadden in 2015 you remember the only other year we didn't draft a big time running back we went running back by committee he had 1000 yards that didn't stop them from drafting Ezekiel Elliott number 4 overall the next year they didn't look at Mcfadden's 1000 years as nothing but accumulation of yards it was nothing special when you get that through your head you'll understand that it's easily replaceable one of these guys on this team could do that if that's how they want to do it and they're not going to do it that way..

Any running back in this league can be a workhorse if they're just giving the ball enough it's the guys like Jayden Blue and Tony Pollard who give you the special place you need the one to punch rico was not the 12 punch we didn't have anything behind him we do this year I don't care if they pick the rookie from Clemson or Williams to do The Dirty work and do the running back by committee because Jayden Blue is Tony Pollard and your discounting what he can do he doesn't need to be a workhorse how come the Titans didn't think Tony Pollard needed to be a workhorse for them to be his starting running back he was a starting running back he's not a workhorse tony Pollard's nowhere near a workhorse..... Look at the way Miami sets up their running backs by committee they drafted more they run more than one player they'll have a guy for short yardage but they need a guy like Jayden Blue they have that guy in a achane you don't need guys to have 1000 yards you need a good group of running backs but your run game matters the offensive line matters it's the group effort it's the accumulative numbers and effects that's what you need yes it's nice to have one guy that can do it but with San Francisco made that switch and paid Christian mccaffrey draft picks and $38 million he has one decent year and then he's out last year now they counted on that one player and he's gone..

You can keep propping up Rico like we just lost Emmett Smith and I'm going to keep laughing in your face you're making me like spit up my coffee this man was here four years and did nothing and he finally has 1000 yards in his contract gear with only two total touchdowns and you act like we just lost Barry Sanders no we lost a guy that's very replaceable I like Rico but he is not special at all...

If Williams returns to form he could be a top 15 back and certainly better then Dowdle.
Doesn't have to be a top 15 back we don't need him to be that a true running back by committee can either be two to three players as long as the scheme in the offensive line is right you have need an effective run game you don't need an elite runner and when you have Jaden blue back there who is basically Tony Pollard at worse and he could be Gibbs that means we have something to help boost this running game that we didn't have the last two years ever since Tony Pollard got hurt and Zeke got old we haven't had that but you could probably use phil mafah as your workhorse or a combination of Williams and Moffett to do anything you need to gain chain moving short yardage and goal line but Jaden Blue will be the catalyst in this run game...

Those overrating Rico I mean I'm sorry to see him go but the dude was in a contract year it was his only Goodyear he had no special runs at all he had two total touchdowns and one he had the bobble for 30 seconds to catch and they're acting like we just lost Emmett Smith I've never seen so many players overrated on this team but this might be the worst the sky is falling because we lost Rico.lmao.
