That might work there, but in Texas, there's no way around it. Every time you get a driver's license or renew it, your info is sent to whatever does the jury selections here. So unless you want to forgo driving, your name will be on the available candidate list. I think their selection process sort of sucks. I have one friend that gets picked every year. I have another friend who's never been picked in the 35 years he's been eligible.I had a pretty reliable person tell me something about jury duty, and how to get around it. Here in NJ when you get the notice, it tells you to sign in blah blah blah. Once you do that, you're on the hook. But if you just take that piece of mail and throw it in the trash and never sign in. They don't know you exist. You will not be called. For my entire adult life, that's what I did. Never a problem. I don't think I'll do that now. Never know when things change.

Hold on for a second. They had to get my info from somewhere too. I was on the available candidate list. But when I get that notice, it tells me to sign in at their website. Here in NJ, they are only using the people that sign in. Because 99% of the people believe they have to do this. If you don't sign in, you're invisible. I got around a half a dozen letters. I threw them all in the garbage except for one. Like I said. The person giving me this information is a very reliable source. That might work there, but in Texas, there's no way around it.
