What kind of RB do you prefer?

I am intrigued by our draft picks. One can take a crease to the house. One is probably limited to about 30 yard gains but is going to deliver some pain to defenders on every run.

So, which do you prefer? The homerun hitter is flashy and delivers that euphoric high. The bell cow churns out those positive yardage, stay in front of the chains & march down field type plays and can pay it off when you get close.

I actually prefer the bell cow. I think they break the spirit of the opponent. I think they keep your team confident, engaged & able to dictate the tempo of the game. If Saquon only broke big runs, he wouldn't get the respect. Defenders can accept that a back is occassionally going to break a big one. The fact that he can do both is why defenders hate playing him. When he keeps grinding you down though, that breaks their spirit. One of the reasons that I don't think Emmitt gets the respect he deserves. He just kept grinding out those positive plays regardless of the defense.

I think with better Oline play our two rookies could have quite a nice season. I'll be right there with you when Blue goes 60 but Mafah may be the heart of the offense. Just a feeling in early May.

Tough yards RBs. That is the type that is most conducive to super bowl wins. That's why Legarrette Blount kept finding jobs, despite attitude issues and being one dimension. That one dimension was being able to get 2-5 yds when nothing was there.

And the best case scenario is to have both a pounder and a flasher.

I prefer one to be the bell cow and a second to be the home run hitter. Of course, there should be an appropriate number of replacements available in the event of injury to the starters.

These RBs, put together or singularly, should comprise a capable set of starters and backups to use in any sudden event that might otherwise be overly problematical.

They should be immediately available to take charge of their duties at a moment's notice, minus any serious letdowns in their overall performance.

Guys that skwirm for that extra yard after contact has been made and their balance compromised.

Bell cow. Durable and tough. Strong enough to get the 3rd and shorts but yet athletic enough to break a few long ones as well. Don't hafta have track speed but can't be slow as molasses either.

Besides, Dallas and their historically long list of impressive running backs, refects a lot of past team success based off bell cow type runner performance.
So there's team history to support the bell cow type too.

I dont think its a league where we can have only one type of back . i would like a back(s) who can follow their OL blocks, get positive yards after contact , earn tough yards and if hit a gap gain fast yards. More importantly can average 4 plus yards.

I prefer a chain mover, great vision, intelligent, receiving ability, deceptively fast, doesn’t need to be a home run hitter but quick and powerful, great balance understanding of the blocking knows how to set up blocks, doesn’t necessarily need to have wiggle, knows how to dictate how he’s tackled but when he’s needed tog et first downs and TDs he can

I think there is an argument for both. Dorsett is my second favorite player all time but I think the best RB of all time may have been Jim Brown. I just like watching excellence at the position and we've been blessed as Cowboy fans to have the all time leading rusher and Tony D and Zeke before he got washed.

But I think I take two Ezekiel Elliott over a combo unit.

A combo unit tips your hand a bit.

Just give me two, strong, fairly quick smashmouth runningbacks with decent vision and wiggle.

Just a consistent attack that rotates

for the NFL you need the tough yard guy that gets your consistently 3-5 yards. look at beast Mode that guy made a living doing that. you still need to have that guy that is a change of pace guy that can rip off a 20 - 60 yarder a few times a game.

i think that is what we have now

we have a few guys that can get you 3-6 yards and a few guys that can rip off a big one.

going to be interesting to see how this goes.
