TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

A 3 is what I’d expect to give, a fifth is fine as well. If he doesn’t work out we should get a 3-4 comp pick. Though, I’d imagine an extension is coming for him.

Is Jerry ready to admit Mingo was a bad trade? I don’t see how he gets on the field with Tolbert and Turpin

Sometimes you must make exceptions. This was the right move. It's a 1 year rental if we don't like him. I got no issue with that. Love the big swing.
But it's not a one year rental, you don't give up a 3rd and a 5th round draft pick and not resign him to a long term deal, that new deal is coming..I'm not questioning his talent, but his attitude/actions on and off the field is troublesome for a team that stated all offseason about instilling a NEW culture on this team.

Unfortunately your correct. It's a byproduct of two things....the last 30 years and last year's utterly asinine All in crap spewed by Jerry. Huge distrust exists between the fans and ownership. It's the size of the Grand canyon, the magnitude of our distrust. That said, I'm excited. We are seeing a major shift take place, even if we don't love the player, I do love the effort being made. We have had a nice off-season. Last move Is go make is getting Gilmore signed on the cheap. I think we have a major hole at CB.
It’s a byproduct of some fans just not being happy in general.

There is medication for that.

I agree, they are probably already working on an extension. Too much capital for a 1 year rental

I think there is a real possibility that this is a one year rental for Dallas. Suppose Dallas turns around and trades for a legit running back on top of this move, or trades for another receiver.

That move likely put Dallas drafting at or near the end of each round. If Pickens departs we essentially get a comp pick that would probably be significant (at worst). That makes the cost of this trade the difference between those picks.
wait what!? they just signed two FA RBs. they just drafted two RBs. and now you want to trade for another RB!!! sorry but that makes you worse GM than Jerry and that's hoard to do.

now, if Pickens plays great and gets a large contract and we get a pick, people call 3rd rounder, we essentially traded a top of 3rd round pick to top of 4th round pick, which is what a comp pick actually is. the comp pick comes after the 32nd pick of the round.

Schotty is like, Ok I get the character thing, but boy they wanted Mingo to be our number 2. That makes a lot of people re-consider their character standards. LOL
I’m on board for this move. You have to some risks. Even if he haves has a good year and you don’t pay him some team will overpay pay and they will get a 3rd or 4th round comp pick. Then draft a receiver next year. It put some talent on the team for this years team and gives you flexibility. He don’t need to be here for multiple years for this to work.

That's nonsense. Mortgaging the Cowboys future away to add depth today is nothing like playing chess. The old man has been screwing up this team for several years.
Depth piece? Who on the current roster starts over him besides Lamb?

This place is so toxic.
They cry that we can't win without a threat next to CD, cry if we bring up Amari, cry if our target WR was already off the board, and now cry that we traded for a guy who would be the #1 wr on most teams. 24 years old, 6 foot 3 legit weapon. If he works out we most likely resign him.

It really doesn't matter what we do the same group of toxic whiners will wine/.
I rather would have traded for a defensive player. all the offense is not going to translate to winning in post season.

Why not? If another team overpays in free agency they will get a 3rd round comp pick. Then draft a receiver in round 1 or 2 next year. This fills a huge void with talent and they don’t have a gun to their head to sign him.

Umm. Lamb and Pickens is probably one of the top five WR duos in the league and Tolbert as WR3 is a really nice piece.
Lamb and Pickens is solid, agreed. But I think we are weak in other areas. Tolbert showed he could make some plays, so I guess I shouldn't be too down.

Also hilarious people assume 3rd rounders just always hit and not at a 25% rate.

This is a steal.
steal? here is our 3rd rounders over the past few years

Cooper Beebe
Overshown
Tolbert
Osa
Pollard
Gallup
Lewis

the only miss was Gallimore...

so its way way more than 25%...but people just tend to make up numbers in their head without actually looking at the facts.

Typical Dallas trade.....they could have gave up a 3rd round pick in the 2025 draft and moved up to get TMAC....and wouldn't have to pay TMAC for 5 years....now they gave up a 3rd and have to either pay Pickens or let him walk.....Dallas boxed themselves in and got another head case for WR and still has to pay him.....so Dallas like..
