TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

We literal have no excuse to not have a good offense now. Dak, it’s time to prove your worth, especially with our defensive pass rush. We should be ahead of most opponents. We our still below the Eagles and Lions but every other offense in the NFC we should contend with. The problem is you are going to have to let one of Pickens or Bland hit free agency.
I actually like our offense more than Washington on paper.

The Eagles are definitely superior.

So, the Cowboys 3rd round pick next year would make the Cowboys a Super Bowl team?
does Pickens make us a superbowl team? how?

could a DT get us closer to a superbowl team? how about a saftey? or LB? could we package that and move up in the draft to get an impact defensive player? now, pickens on a one year deal. and no 3rd round pick and no other guarantees.

we already know offense alone doesn't do anything...you need defense...but I get it. Offense sells more jerseys.

our FO sucks. the one main reason they traded for pickens was because last year's trade for Mingo was a disaster. and Pickens will sell more jerseys.
Missing on Mingo doesn't mean we made a bad trade for Pickens.

Are you worried we didn't just significantly upgrade our WR position?

Doubt 99 year old Jerry cares about selling a few jerseys at this point.

You aren’t getting a elite linebacker or a 1 tech for a 3rd rounder.

The defense is built to play with a lead.

The offense is built to play from behind.

That ought to add up.

Dominant DT play wins in the end, and that’s this teams weakness. It’s about headlines and player collecting.

It’s about QB play.

Finding a dominant DT is nearly impossible.

I had to reread that again like what? Cooks longest pass reception was like 37 yards w/the Cowboys but everywhere else broke long receptions. Don't think that was because of Cooks.
How many times have we had guys wide open behind the defense & not get the completion??

MC's love for Dak just won't allow him to acknowledge the truths.

I agree, they are probably already working on an extension. Too much capital for a 1 year rental

Maybe.

Or maybe it’s a wait and see and if he signs elsewhere you get a nice compensation pick that basically gives you a 1 year rental.

I was a fan of just waiting, letting things shake out with the kids we got. But I like the big swing.
That was my preference too. Give Mingo and Tolbert a year to prove they are the right guys and if not use the 2026 draft to get a receiver. I think this deal short circuits the development of the Cowboys younger players and honestly, I don't think it makes them a contender for the SB in 2025.

And, in all likelihood, Pickens will move on from Dallas in 2026 and the Cowboys will have arrested the development of the guys they have.

"A" for effort but wrong culture for this player. The good news is the team just got a lot more interesting. The bad news is Mike Tomlin couldnt make it work with this player.
Pickens wants the ball and a QB who can get it to him. For all his faults WRs who play with Dak love him, he gets them #’s. It’s A contract year for Pickens, we will get his best on and off the field.

Excellent trade. Pretty dumb move by Pittsburgh too, why trade now?
