Thank you Jerry

the eagles invested heavily on defense. they had #1 defense last year and spent their first 5 picks this year on defense. if they made a move like this, it would be to build a dynasty. not appease the fans.

we spent a 7th round pick on couple of DTs and fans are going gaga!

I'm not saying Jerry's not trying to appease the fans. I would like us to be more invested on defence. But, at the same time, this was a good decision. I was using the Eagles as an example, but I could use other teams. If the Chiefs made this move, how do you think this board reacts?

chiefs have made moves like this, but across the team and have 3 superbowl trophies to show for it. I would tend to believe in them more than the cowboys whose every move has not led to anything over the past 30 years. we tend to make individual moves as opposed to moves that lead to championship team building.

I think he got a little nervous last year.
Actually my theory is it wasn't about nerves I really truly believed he had thoughts about blowing this team up that is why it took so long for him to sign lamb and then deciding whether he should bring Prescott back because this needed to be all or nothing you don't sign lamb and then nobody else so once you make that decision then the rest of them had to come but I believe he was sitting there up until the last minute thinking about allowing Prescott to play on his last year as well as lamb and if they forced to hold out traded everyone including Trayvon Diggs and Micah Parsons I believe he took so much time thinking about blowing this team up that it took his focus away from the offseason and the fact that all the coaches were on one year deals he really was thinking about 2025 as a rebuilding year from the bottom..

Literally took his focus away from the actual season he was so unsure of how he wanted to go and what direction he went he dropped the ball he fumbled but you know what I don't think anything he'd have done in the offseason I don't think care if he brought in Derek Henry and whoever else people thought he should bring in with a little bit more effort in the offseason because the injuries alone derail this season we won seven games with backups there was no way to cover up all those injuries asked San Francisco so we can excuse him now in hindsight nothing he could have done in the offseason was going to save this season from 2024 that season ended when you lost so many starters that I couldn't keep count anymore.

They were rolling out practice squad players as starters at key positions it was over there's nothing you could have done to salvage the season and I'm surprised and I'm a little upset that they let Cooper rush start they should have played Trey Lance from that time that Prescott went down and really saw what he could do in the regular season so we didn't waste that 4th round pick I'd have preferred them to lose more games if he didn't play well and we'd have been even higher up on the board but this was over once all those injuries happened.

Hey that's my theory the man was so caught in the middle of trying to decide whether he wanted to detach himself from the core part of this team and to pay any of them back big of money you know like Nico got rid of Luca he was struggling with whether he wanted to let go of Prescott Lamb and Parsons and Diggs and start all over without tank and without Martin Etcetera..

He waited so long to make a decision that in the end he panicked signed them and now here we are but I think he's doing so much better this off season that we get he's more comfortable and it shows.

I do not mean this in a sarcastic manner. I actually do mean it when I say "Thank you Jerry." I ripped him to pieces last year when I felt he wasn't showing effort. This offseason, I do see effort from him. So, with that, I must credit him for the effort. I'm NOT sure how the season will go, but I do see effort to try to improve the team. For that, I'm glad to see.

Aside from the Mingo trade, I like the moves we have made in the trades. I like the draft. I'm onboard with the Pickens trade. Is it just me, or is Jerry actually keeping relatively quiet and actually doing something? So, yeah, thank you Jerry for showing effort this offseason.
I agree

accept with there's no reason to bring up the mingo trade that's last year's mess up,

everything else that went wrong last year and the offseason which by the way I don't think it would have mattered derek Henry wasn't fixing this team, one or two more moves that you would have hoped they would have made in the offseason, wasn't going to fix this injured badly injured severely record injuries ,

lost this season for us the mistakes he made yes the Mingo trade but that was in 2024 you're bringing up something that happened last year yeah it hurt this draft a little bit the only thing that bothers me about last year is that he didn't allow Trey Lance to start the rest of the year 1 stack went down we could have either lost more games or saw what we had in him and maybe we didn't have to go get Milton

So yes, he's more comfortable this year he's doing a lot better this house season I mean this is more active than I've seen him in 5 years and they're the right moves they didn't get emotional on draft day they missed their receiver they didn't go after their running back but they didn't panic they went after players that make the team better without thinking about the positions so now they're really deep at some positions and still need to have answers and training camp on the rest...

I mean we didn't even bring up the coaching staff I mean you brought up a lot of the moves you like in free agency and the draft and the trades but this coaching staff is in my opinion at least all the assistants are better than I've seen in quite a long time i'm more comfortable with the entire coaching staff than I have been in a while so he blew this whole thing up this whole entire offseason started with the better coaching staff which probably got him better advice and here we are.

Yes, I realized all the haters reading this it is all just hope it all looks good on paper we're hoping we have a better season and nothing's guaranteed but neither is having a Worst season than last year that's not guaranteed either and I never thought that just having a healthy season or relatively healthy season we can easily be at 10 win team..

I'm not saying we are going to be contenders this year. That doesn't change the fact that this was a good move. The Elam move was a good move too. The draft, in my view, was a good draft. So, I have to credit Jerry when he does those well. I can't just complain constantly and not give credit when it's due.

I like the assistants as well, and I'm curious about Schotty. I had to bring up Mingo because it's relevant to the trades within the last 12 months.

if you look at it in a silo, it comes across as a good move. I mean the desparate cowboys fans will cling to anything for a little hope.

if you look at the over all picture, how does this help get us closer to being a superbowl team? it doesn't. we knew going into the off season biggest needs were on defense, at DT, LB, saftey and risk at CBs because of all the major injuries. yet, we filled it with a bunch of players to just check a box.

Offense sells. that's Jerry. he sells sells sells. this was a marketing move for this year. not a long term look on how to build a championship team. when each year you make individual moves in a silo, you end up with a mish-mosh plan that doesn't work.

we are not one player away. and if he had multiple years left on his contract, I would say, OK, but its a one year rental. for a team with no chance at a championship.

Wide receiver was a need too for this offseason. I suppose what we can do is franchise tag Pickens after this season to get another year out of him, and then get the comp pick when he leaves. In either case, the issues from last year's inactivity are rearing their heads for this year. But, I'm just glad that Jerry is showing some effort. We got none of that last year.

was it a higher need than DT? or LB? or Saftey? but yeah, make a trade for what sells to the fans.

this is not effort. this is jerry marketing. selling hope. Jerry goes through these cycles every few years. just go back and see when MM was hired and the moves we made. same with Garrett. and so on.....its a jerry cycle. crap hits the fan. he makes a couple of moves the next off season. fans get giddy. seats fill up. jerseys fly off the shelf. and repeat the cycle.

how does this move get us closer to a superbowl championship? a one year rental. were we one player away from a championship calibur team?

This is second thread with someone thanking Jerry for making a trade. If that doesn’t tell you how bad it’s been for the fan base nothing will. lol
You mean you don't like the balance of 75 to 25% of all the negative posts we hear about jerry do you don't like it when there's a couple positive ones I get what you're saying but dude there is nothing in here worse as a fan to come in in almost everything is negative it's so negative that you call Jerry a liar and you're saying that he never upgrades the team he doesn't make good trades he always gets fleeced he wasn't interested in making the team better and when this entire offseason he's shown that he is and some of these trades were very good for the team he didn't just settle I mean we were just talking about this before the trade from the draft that they don't care about Prescott they're going to hang him out in the dry they're not getting him another weapon...

Everything he does is bargain basement he's only bringing in cheat players he's only bringing in Wasp players he's only bringing in retreads he's bringing back players that used to be here that are no longer any good and should have never been let go blah blah blah blah blah

Now you got a problem that we're trying to balance it out I mean how many posts do we need about the same subject that Jerry Jones the past 30 years and then we see Jerry Jones the past 20 years and then we see Jerry Jones the past 15 years we talk about last year was so horrible everything from the start of hiring this coaching staff everything they've done in the offseason free agents draft and now some trades they have made this completely turned around from last year and if we have to sit here and listen to your negative garbage you're going to hear the positive garbage because it's still 7525 so I'm sorry if 25% of actual fans want to show some positivity and it bothers you well I'm glad it bothers you that's why I continue to do it on purpose I'm going to put the silver lining posts up all offseason until I have no need because I'm tired of seeing negative posts so I need to get them bunked down and off the first page you get that you get how insidious this place is?

Places like negative primordial ooze I mean it's so bad that I'm waiting for the ghostbuster movie where the entire world collapses on itself well in this case Dallas instead of New York because it's been negative for so long it's going to bring hell with it hell on Earth is coming because that's what you guys do you make it so hard and difficult to be a actual fan with any positivity because 75% of the posts are regurgitated negative posts mostly about either Stephen Jones or Jerry Jones or DAK..

I'm sorry if we're trying to balance it out to a point where we're trying to at least have 25% of the post speed team friendly versus team hate it's tiresome it gives people tired head they get tired of coming in here and trying to find something positive to talk about given the fact that each year should be looked at as a new year and it's a one off and stop talking about what happened 30 years ago I don't care I don't care what the drought looks like i've seen worse..

so now you're tired of the few posts that somebody's trying to give Jerry Flowers when they're 75% of the other post that you're okay with when it's Jerry hate but if it's Jerry positivity you don't like it that's hypocritical..

A lot of you are some of the biggest hypocrites ever you love fans that just keep the hate fest going you want all those threads that are negative to go viral you want everyone on your side you want them carrying your pitchfork and your torch you want to just keep the negativity going and some of us are just tired of it so we're going to come in here and be as positive as we feel like it because you know what we're actually fans of the team I don't care who the owner is or who the GM is i'm just hoping for a Good year and I'm tired of hearing how bad everything is going to be..

So, the biggest hypocrites in here now complaining about people being positive about their own team that's when it's come down to this should not be called the Cowboys fan zone this should be called the Cowboys hate zone because that's what it's become nothing but people looking for venting and therapy and just complaining 24 hours a day...

As much as Jerry deserves criticism, he gets to have some flowers he gets a pat on the back when he deserves it there's nothing wrong with that if you're going to criticize him every day 24 hours a day and that's going to be mostly the post around here then he deserves a couple when he does something good and I think this whole damn offseason has been good it's not one trade I think the coaching staff the draft the free agents and the trades together to make this one of the most successful all seasons without playing the games then we've had in a while we'll see the proof on the field..

I like the assistants as well, and I'm curious about Schotty. I had to bring up Mingo because it's relevant to the trades within the last 12 months.
Yeah but that's the thing brian Schottenheimer alone may not have looked like a good hire but he bolstered his reputation already by bringing in one of the best staffs that I've seen in the very long time therefore it elevates him he's going to be a delegator a leader if you can bring in the right staff for support you're going to be successful...

I think it's relative at all it was a mistake made in 2024 and we don't know whether it's going to pay dividends or not probably not but there's no reason to bring it up for the moves that have been made this offseason that was not made in the offseason it was made at the trade deadline in the middle of last year that ended as soon as the new league year started it's called the new league year for a reason that was last year's mess.

I agree that id have liked a NT earlier than we got one. Unfortunately, the NT that I wanted in round 2 was gone before we picked. Let me ask you this, would you rather we did nothing and tank another season? Does that increase or decrease the likelihood of Parsons staying? Perhaps this move was also meant to be a benefit to Parsons. Plus, it probably is meant to throw a gauntlet down on Dak to say that he now has weapons.

Honestly, I'm good with Schotty. I think he's paid his dues and earned the coaching job.

In other words, I get we had more needs. The difference is, Jerry made next to no moves last year. He's making moves this year. That's an improvement. Does it get us closer to the Super Bowl? No. But does it give us a shot at the playoffs? Maybe, especially if it means we can score more points.

I would have rather picked grant or Walker and strengthen the defense. I would have passed up on Booker and if they wanted a RG, then take one in mid rounds. I would have gone after better DT in FA, as opposed to wait until 6th round of FA wave. if there was a good DT available in the 2nd, then trade up a few spots to go get him.

this move was to appease the complaining fans and sell them hope. it had nothing to do with long term outlook of building a superbowl calibur team. its a one year move.

Here's the thing I heard some people tell us that the guy we got from UCLA can't pronounce his name but I'm not going to look it up either he was in their top 100 picks we got the guy in the low two hundreds if he was on some people's borders as a top 100 pick then technically he's not a low end choice he just slipped and some of these like you can get Deron Bland guys have gotten guys like Tom Brady Tony Romo Kurt Warner Brock Purdy I mean the list goes on and on what if this guy turn out to be "Him"

I mean people forget about Justin Rogers as well I think they were comfortable because they have enough players that they can compete for spots on this team and the best will float to the top if not they have the money to make a move you do realize that they can extend Parsons they already have extra money and if need be they're going to get a running back or a defensive tackle you know a couple weeks leading up to the season when cut downs happen you do realize also that there will be more players available for either a low end trade or just flat out get cut that we can pick up that is what happens with cut bounds that's why this is not done this team is not assembled it is not game one ready 30 of these players are going to be cut and that's happening all around the league and there's going to be some good players they're keeping eyes on trust me they got a list.

For now, they're going to let all these players we have get all the reps possible, no reason to bring in a veteran to take up progress ,and reps that they need in camp....

If the battles do not produce players I believe they're going to go get one we have four months people be patient we were patient and got our receiver now be more patient and something could happen before the season did say too right too substantial trade talks were happening around the draft what was the other one?

stay tuned...

exactly. he made no moves. hoping it will work out. but didn't. given he sucks as a GM, he didn't see how bad the talent was on the team. I said it mid last year that he will make moves this offseason, one big splashy move to appease the fans and sell them hope. this is exactly what he did.

I don't care about being just in the playoffs. we need to build a championship team. a one year rental and we are back at it again next year. same place. Jerry makes one year moves in a silo and never worries about the future, as he will deal with it when he gets there.

Talk about some condescending bull flip!

This guy think just because he throws jerry an undeserved bone he's a better fan, maybe even better human...than others. This is very sad. Imagine being around this person and getting judged this way.

I say Blood got exactly what he was fishin' for. Controversy and opportunity.

At this point...at best...Jerry is just doing his job. It should be expected to do it well. At worst...we shall see.

So Steve...you might ask...what would it take? Consistent high level intelligent play/management during the season (yes even in a loss). A couple strong playoff wins...especially at home against inferior teams. Super Bowl appearance would be nice every decade or so, it doesn't have to be a Lombardi EVERY year.

(Blood likely will not see this comment, but maybe he should? As if it will help  )
