TE is now our weakness

The old man who makes the decisions is their weakness
Exactly right, our "GM" is the biggest weakness- no doubt. As far as players go - Id still say its DTs. Bringing back the same 2 starters there and adding a couple of 7th Rounders - doesn't scream - FIXED to me. Its still our biggest PLAYER POSITION weakness, until proven otherwise once the games start counting.

A healthy Fergy will be the same impactful TE as ever if not even better than ever.

It always comes back to that. Health. And none of us can have the omniscience necessary to say whether a guy is going to be able to enjoy good health over the course of any given season, or at least not this early in his career.

I think a WR2 like Pickens helps more than a safety. Improve the offense helps the defense
I disagree. improve the defense and the offense benefits. less need to score. can win close games. just offense never wins any championships. must have the defense. and right our defense outside of Parsons ain't looking so great. the second best player is probably Osa and that's not saying much.

Pickens coming in just put a smile on whoever lines up at TE. Not to mention they draft a RB who is very good as a receiver. Quite literally the opposing defense will be looking at the TE position as the least of their worries. All goes well health wise and mesh wise and they are going to be open safety valves for Dak a lot.

You guys are nuts. Ferguson is damn good and is making chump change. That position, while we dont have Travis Kelce, Ferguson is a rock solid player and fits the scheme just fine.

I disagree about weakness, even if talking about the offensive side.

I would put Left Tackle still as a bigger weakness/unknown.

Ferguson/Schoon are service-able tight ends at worse. Can get by with either. IMO Ferguson wasn't the same last year after the left knee injury and then of course he missed a few games due to a concussion.
I agree and look for schoon to be signifcant better this season
Off weakness OT
Or RB
Def weakness ILB or DT
Or maybe CB early on

Exactly. Everyone was high on Ferguson after his 2nd season. He wasn't elite, but was a top 7-8 TE that year. Get him back fully healthy this year with a healthy starting QB and there is no reason to think he can't go back to or beyond what he was in 2023.

Before last year Travis Kelse actually named Ferguson as a TE that he is excited to see develop.

And the one thing we got from Ferguson's health problems last year was a chance to see Schoonmaker get more involved. That' not to say he proved to be starter level, but he at least proved he can contribute and play a reasonable role as the #2.

There are certainly other areas that need more attention

As long as you're not total garbage Dak will dump off to the TE 45 to 65 times usually, just many times short of the sticks.
The Schultz or Ferguson talent model are fine for what this offense and QB asks of the tight end position.
Not that big of a team success factor at all for this team.

There's already plenty of them on the roster with a variety of skillsets. Don't need another one.

Kinda like getting another offensive guard...
Oh wait.
LOL

TE is fine. It's more about how we use the TE than anything. As long as Fergy keeps the chains moving were good.
