Grade the Pickens trade

He is a legit #2, maybe even a #1 on some teams. But, that is a lot of draft capital for a potential one-year rental. I don’t know if he really is an unstable mess or not yet we will find out. A solid B from me.

Tell me who you would rather have
Cooper would have been fine a a 2. Him and Chubb at RB. Pickens is a stud as far as his ability, but when u add it all up….his quitting on the field and pouty comments combined with he’s only a 1 year player contract wise who was traded for a 3rd…..we would need to sign him long term AND he turn around the behavior for this to be a success.

The success rate for a 3rd rounder is estimated between 10-15%. I think its worth the potential of 1-2 years of great production, and then getting the comp pick back. The risk is even worth it if he doesn't work out next year. My main concern is if Jerry gives him big money and then he doesn't work out after that.

I think Steelers fans would give it at best a C with many giving it a D or F based on the compensation they got back and timing of it. On the surface it has to be a much better grade for the Cowboys. For future draft capital a year out, it's more valued as a round lower.

For this situation, at this time, full F.

Maybe if he wasn’t a malcontent and/or your head coach didn’t just get done talking about “changing the culture” and “running the ball” it could be different.

Wait until he starts moaning over not getting enough targets in his walk year. Jerry gonna step in and fix that? Of course he thinks so, because HE is the defacto coach and why no one who actually stands on the sidelines can ever command a locker room with him around.

Further proof there’s no real plan. Their own actions contradict what they say….literally within days of each other.
I want a receiver who wants the ball. In fact, it’s mandatory.

What grade do you give the Pickens trade
Gave it a C+.

Mainly based on the fact yet again Jerry has gone against his coach wanting to change the culture and bring in character players.

Pickens isn’t one of them. At all.

Mike Tomlin. One of the most respected coaches in the entire NFL couldn’t reign this guy in, but first timer Schotty won’t have any issues right? Lol my lord.

Talent wise I love it.

They lock in the top end of a his comp pick without dealing with the uncertainty of next year or his next contract. I assume if there was more of a market, they would have traded him before the draft.

Pickens is a diva wr. That's common in the NFL. Remember when Deb pouted flopping on the sideline. He was also a great benift to Cowboys. Cooper doesn't have even close to Pickens. Why is he still on the marlet

Incomplete

His downside risk is massive so I need to see how he gets along in camp, at least.

hmmm, we have drafted
Beebe
Osa
Tolbert,
overshown
Gallup in the 3rd

in another thread somebody claimed success rate of 25%

people are just reaching for a number to win their argument. they are not fact based.

A- for me only because of character issues. I poo poo a lot of moves but give credit when warranted. This trade deserves some credit.
