I wouldn't doubt that. But it doesn't erase the fact that their Rookie QB took the team to the NFC Championship game already, regardless if they go to the playoffs this year or ever again, that fact doesn't change.

Exactly, and that's where I'm annoyed with some of the comments here. If Philly did this deal, we'd be furious that we didn't do this. We did the deal, and it's good to see the effort. I'm happy to see Jerry actually doing something, as opposed to last year.

I think for Washington or Philly, this would be a good trade because those teams are contenders and 1 player makes a difference. Those teams can afford a 1 year rental. The Cowboys are not 1 player away from being a contender so the trade means the Cowboys will be better but to what end? If they finish the season 9-8 and out of the playoffs, what good does having Pickens around for 1 year do for them?

No, it’s because the rest of those teams rosters are in ready to win mode and can afford to be doing ‘win now.’ type final piece moves.

If you think this run defense is at the point where they can afford to be trading a premium pick for a WR rental with some other baggage, well then I suppose we can respectfully disagree.

Not to mention the other questions like….is the OL going to play better as a unit (especially at T), are the rookie RBs going to pan out, what going on at corner….and is the QBs hammy going to stay in tact.

Nothing wrong with improving. Buying rentals with premium picks that they may still need to build with is a different story.

Pickens is a one year rental and he’s more likely to create strife inside the locker room than make a difference on offense. Risky trade for not much reward. No one thought we were a WR away from a championship.

What's the problem? I just found out about the trade, and don't have any problem with it. If he's young it's a great trade. If he's old it's still a decent trade. We needed somebody to complement CD. I don't know a lot about the guy but in a game I watched he seemed to be a focal point for the announcers like he was pretty good. So I'll assume he's good with the potential to be very good with a decent quarterback because Pittsburgh always had crap the last couple years.

When this team is getting gashed vs the run yet again against a good team when it counts and Pickens is on the sidelines pouting over his own stats and contract, it’ll be more clear.

I have no problem with Jerry trying to make up for his “all in” ridicule, but then more should have been done in free agency.
