TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

Look t who he had at QB. Dak may not be elite, but he is sure a heck of a lot better than what he had.
Also he has a legit WR opposite of him. That helps tremendously.
I don't disagree

But he's in the final year of his deal

By the time we give up the third, he probably won't be on the team

Pickens has the talent to be a great WR on the field. We need that. Pickens also has a talent to poison a locker room. We don’t need that. Which one did we get?

I’ll withhold a grade until we see the entire package in action on /off field.
Pickens has never poisoned a locker room. He's like Dez. He's been late for meetings and he will pout and throw a fit about not getting the ball, but he was liked by his teammates just like Dez.

Brings on competition at training camp. One year deal and if he don't fit he's gone. 2027, hopefully get the draft pick back.

There is also an issue with this dude just not being anything OTHER than a receiver. He is a liability in the run game.....when we are trying to transition to a more run focused/balanced offense.

People are going to look at his 2023 numbers and get excited. There is a reason we got him for a third.
Pff has him as the 6th best blocking WR in football. The kid can do both. I’m positive that had a lot to do with getting him.

I just can't see it with Dak. He SHOULD have a monster year opposite CD. But he has to remain healthy, he has to learn the offense and keep his head in the game, and Dak has to stay upright too. It's a lot to ask, unfortunately.
I believe that Dak staying upright will be the least of the offenses problems as the FO has spent alot of resources shoring up the line

The running game is the biggest question in regards to which RB will emerge and excell......there should be some decent holes created.

BTW, has anybody noticed that the sports media now refers to athletes with discipline issues as "mercurial"

Heard it on 3 different sports networks.....must be the new and approved PC moniker for head cases and such

After being educated by a few posts I’ve done a 180 on this trade.

I was ignorant to that we’d get a 3rd round comp pick if he leaves.

So that totally changes my mind on this and just wanted to say i was wrong. Lets go!
It’s actually pretty complicated but here are the basics and there are considerations for things like making all-pro, etc

Where the new contract lands in comparison to others in the position

3rd Round: top 5%
4th Round: below top 5% to top 10%
5th Round: below top 10% to top 15%
6th Round: below top 15% to top 25%
7th Round: below top 25% to top 35%
