Thank you Jerry

I would have rather picked grant or Walker and strengthen the defense. I would have passed up on Booker and if they wanted a RG, then take one in mid rounds. I would have gone after better DT in FA, as opposed to wait until 6th round of FA wave. if there was a good DT available in the 2nd, then trade up a few spots to go get him.

this move was to appease the complaining fans and sell them hope. it had nothing to do with long term outlook of building a superbowl calibur team. its a one year move.

Honestly, I think Booker was a good pick. I think, especially with Martin retiring, Booker was a solid choice. I think we should be able to run the ball better. Plus, we did get a beast of a pass rusher in round 2, so I'm excited for that.

Here's the thing I heard some people tell us that the guy we got from UCLA can't pronounce his name but I'm not going to look it up either he was in their top 100 picks we got the guy in the low two hundreds if he was on some people's borders as a top 100 pick then technically he's not a low end choice he just slipped and some of these like you can get Deron Bland guys have gotten guys like Tom Brady Tony Romo Kurt Warner Brock Purdy I mean the list goes on and on what if this guy turn out to be "Him"

I mean people forget about Justin Rogers as well I think they were comfortable because they have enough players that they can compete for spots on this team and the best will float to the top if not they have the money to make a move you do realize that they can extend Parsons they already have extra money and if need be they're going to get a running back or a defensive tackle you know a couple weeks leading up to the season when cut downs happen you do realize also that there will be more players available for either a low end trade or just flat out get cut that we can pick up that is what happens with cut bounds that's why this is not done this team is not assembled it is not game one ready 30 of these players are going to be cut and that's happening all around the league and there's going to be some good players they're keeping eyes on trust me they got a list.

For now, they're going to let all these players we have get all the reps possible, no reason to bring in a veteran to take up progress ,and reps that they need in camp....

If the battles do not produce players I believe they're going to go get one we have four months people be patient we were patient and got our receiver now be more patient and something could happen before the season did say too right too substantial trade talks were happening around the draft what was the other one?

stay tuned...

Well, yeah, and, for me, I'm looking forward to this season more than I was last season. Last season was pretty clear it wasn't going to go well. This season actually feels a little bit better. There's actually a path forward it feels like.

exactly. he made no moves. hoping it will work out. but didn't. given he sucks as a GM, he didn't see how bad the talent was on the team. I said it mid last year that he will make moves this offseason, one big splashy move to appease the fans and sell them hope. this is exactly what he did.

I don't care about being just in the playoffs. we need to build a championship team. a one year rental and we are back at it again next year. same place. Jerry makes one year moves in a silo and never worries about the future, as he will deal with it when he gets there.

The thing is, especially if Jerry can get Parsons done (which is a major critique I have that he should have gotten Parsons done earlier when Parsons wanted to deal earlier), then maybe Pickens turns into a 2 year deal with a franchise tag. I want to be in a championship. I've never seen us in one. But, at the same time, the moves this offseason as a whole feel productive. Not perfect, but productive

I don't think it was that clear but hey it's over we don't need to discuss it further except for the fact that we won 7 games with a bunch of backups too many injuries the injuries derailed the season more than the off season did but yes this offseason might give you more hope going in but if we have the same amount of injuries we're not going anywhere you do realize that injuries were the key factor in our demise last year again I don't think a Henry and OR ADams

You can pick a name and it is not gonna matter the injuries were insane it was terrible like 2020 in 2021 what happened big bounce back that's what happens when you have injuries ask San Francisco you don't get out of them no matter how deep you think you are you can't cover up all those injuries...

Don't make me clear if we lose Prescott in game 5 for the rest of the year if we lose key players at every position or three players at every position on defense we're not going anywhere this year either

I am not saying booker is a bad player. but does a RG make this team closer to a championship team or a DT or a LB? at that point of the draft you have no idea who is available in the 2nd and what will happen. again, I think booker is a fine player, but don't feel like we are a championship team right now. in the past 15 year, no team in the CCG has had 3 first round OL men on the team. most have had only 1. we have 3!!!

parsons will get done. its inevitable. he was top selling cowboys jersey. the ROI is worth it to jerry.

and this off season is better than last year. but its still in a silo. not a championship team. and my only criticism is that we make a one year move. when we are not one player away. why?

The way I see it, he also is effective if we are potentially angling for a replacement QB. Consider that Dak has about 3 years left on his deal, and we can get out of it sooner. At some point soon, we will need his successor to be drafted. So, why not start getting the team ready to compete for the next QB? Theoretically, we can probably draft a QB in the next draft or in 2027, let the QB sit a year or so, and then the team, with proper building, can be ready for the next QB.

It's going to take a Hell of a lot more than trading for a wide receiver for me to get over thirty years of meddling, holding press conferences after games, making decisions like he throws darts at a chart, misses, and then picks the most illogical things to do.

When he steps aside as the GM, hires someone with autonomy, makes Charlotte the head of the Dallas Cowboys, and sends Little Anus to Arkansas to find oil, I will say thank you.

But if this kissing and making up is over a WR trade, I see you and raise you Roy Williams.
On a side note, the entire 'Thank you, Jerry' sentiment runs contradictory to a particularly, long-running assessment proclaimed by certain observers. It has been constantly repeated Mad Genius Jerry Jones has little-to-no autonomy involving front office decision-making. That it is, allegedly, Stephen Jones, who has been and is now mostly or even fully in charge.

Let's say that assessment is actually true. Would it not warrant the thank you threads and posts be assigned to DNA Kid #1 instead? Personally, I would not be thanking Rodeo Promoter either but it would logically make the thanks align moreso with the person supposedly orchestrating these welcomed draft and free agency moves than Jones himself.

Exactly. But the motive for this thread was clearly not to "thank jerry".

I won’t thank Jerry but they did a good job this offseason. This should be the floor not the ceiling though. This type of work should be done every year you fail like you’ve been doing. They have a plan in place. And I agree with it. Tet was the only guy who would help this team this year at receiver….went and got a 24 year old with a low risk 3rd.

I do not mean this in a sarcastic manner. I actually do mean it when I say "Thank you Jerry." I ripped him to pieces last year when I felt he wasn't showing effort. This offseason, I do see effort from him. So, with that, I must credit him for the effort. I'm NOT sure how the season will go, but I do see effort to try to improve the team. For that, I'm glad to see.

Aside from the Mingo trade, I like the moves we have made in the trades. I like the draft. I'm onboard with the Pickens trade. Is it just me, or is Jerry actually keeping relatively quiet and actually doing something? So, yeah, thank you Jerry for showing effort this offseason.
And we still can't stop the run.

It's truly amazing how easily Jerry can wrangle them right back in.

He knows his fanbase well.

This team is gonna miss the playoffs and finish, at best, 3rd in the division next season, and ya'll gonna be left hurt. 30 years and counting.

MountaineerCowboy told ya first.
First?

What if neither Jerry or DNA boy is the one making the moves and it's actually McClay and Schnotty?

Very nicely said. But I would just point out that we should give Mingo a chance as well. I didn't like the move, but MM's offense was a vanilla as you can get. Let's see how that plays out in training camp. After all, he is only 24 years old.

This year might be his last hoorah. At his age, we might look back at this and say, this was his last ditch effort to retire with a bang. The way he came into the league. I feel like another trade is coming btw.

My apologies. Let me clarify what I mean by 'orchestrating'.

Will McClay and Brian Schottenheimer are doing their work--analyzing college and NFL players--making recommendations for the team roster, through addition and subtraction (e.g. drafting, signing, waiving, etc.). Both of those men and other front office personnel present their recommendations to the Mad Genius and DNA Kid #1.

Admittedly, they may also be doing most of the initial legroom work, like contacting other franchises about their players' availability. I will not even debate that.

However, ALL of McClay's, Schottenheimer's, and others efforts are assimilated, executed or denied (e.g. orchestrated) by Jerry and Stephen Jones. Zero final decisions are made by anyone in the front office--outside of those two--concerning players and coaches coming or exiting the team's employment.

So, to answer your question, the two idiots are involved in the overall process DESPITE whatever <percentage> of any and everything McClay and Schottenheimer have done and will continue doing. Jerry and Stephen Jones are making moves, even if McClay and Schottenheimer did everything for them in advance except maybe wiping the drool from their chins afterwards

That's fair

HAve to say you are right (sorry acr). Hard to believe anything gets decided by anyone but a Jones. Right on down to T.P. in stadium crappers.
