TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

Dumb move. A third round pick for a guy who will go to free agency next year seems really expensive.
It’s weird because we are getting ripped off.

He’s gone after this season.
That's not the whole story. It's a great move because the Cowboys could extend him or get a comp pick if he leaves. So there is little risk here.

Well the move does make me more positive about the upcoming season.

Dak needs large WRs with a big catching radius to be effective, and Pickens definitely has that. I was in favor of getting speed, but the problem is Dak never hits them as well. This guy is 24 and CD is 26, probably a decade of ability for Dak.

Now we have to hope Blue can do something and this OL isn't a false prophet. And just pray for the D to do anything.
He isn’t a mature player.

Head case.

Huh? I know exactly what happened last year. You're not trading the draft capital it would take to go from 12-4 for a DT that not everyone was sold on. FYI, I'm no fan of Jerry and his idiot son, but I can also recognize the cost of this trade(low risk) and that it represented good value(unlike your trade wish) You're also discounting the benefit of having GP on the team this year. You get basically a free look and you can choose to resign him or let him walk and possibility get the pick back(3rd round) in return. A contract with AV of 20M+ gets you that 3rd. Cee Dee makes 30M+.
low risk in what sense? a one year rental? are we one WR2 away from being a superbowl calibur team? good value or not. you make moves to get you closer. you have to have a long term outlook. you have to know where your team is. its utterly clear Jerry has no clue, nor does he care. he had no clue how bad the team last year was and I said it mid last year during the season of disaster that Jerry will make a couple of splashy moves in offseason to bring the fans back.... and on cue!!!

and if we resign him. at what? close to 30M? that's 60M spent on WRs....is there any other team that does that? and has been in the CCG?

and its not a 3rd round pick. people need to stop saying that. its a 4th round pick, given you pick after the 32nd pick of the 3rd round. essentially top of 4th round pick any way you look at it.

it was purely a marketing move on jerry's part.

He will get a new contract somewhere.

Wait till he starts throwing his “fits” on the Oxnard practice fields this Summer, or in games.

Even Tomlin couldn’t fix his head.

So much for the new team culture fans were talking about last week.

Just shaking my head at this post. It's a third round pick no matter how you slice it. You're picking on day 2. If the cost of having GP this year is 10-15 spots in the 3rd round then you're completely clueless if you think that's material(especially considered the draft capital you wanted to throw away this year and next for a questionable DT). As for WR2, yes this was a huge need. GP is also talented enough to be WR1 in case Cee Dee is injured. So Jerry does it for marketing AND it also greatly improves this team. Win Win.

lets say there are no comp picks. third round ends after pick 96. 4th round begins pick 97.
now, a 3rd comp pick is after pick 96, and its pick 97. essentially a 4th round pick. now you want to add more picks to the round to call it 3rd rounder. then do so if it makes you feel better. but its pick 97 at best. after every team has picked in the 3rd round.

and does the GP trade get us any closer to superbowl? then why make the move and move lower in the round for a one year rental. if your goal is to win regular season and your championship is having made the playoffs, then great. but if your goal is actual superbowl, then I ask again, were we one player away from a superbowl?

its a win. lose.....marketing wins. team goes nowhere fast. gets a lesser pick regardless of what round you want to call it.
