Change is in the air

Has our defensive issues been fixed? Cause it has usually always been the problem.
Pass D will be better, run D has to be seen , but can get better with the infusion of real LBs and if one of the rookies can anchor and take on double teams .

you call sixth and seventh rd picks something; no one else does
You ignore so much its pathetic
No one else?

You love to speak in unequivocally patently false absolutes don't you?

I assure to the young men drafted and their families it means something.

Some of us actually like the Toia pick up and see upside with him.

I understand you have no desire to actually engage in any logical sensible dialog, but do try to do better.

There seems to be change in the air at the Star these days. I don’t remember, in recent history anyway, they’ve been this active in attempting to fill holes. Don’t be quick to poo poo the free agents as they signed some quality depth there. Not top tier talent but better players than in the past. As everyone should know, you must have quality depth to compete for a Super Bowl because they will be put to the test at some point during the season. As an example of the changes just look at the 2024 RB depth chart compared to 2025:

2024 RB room

* Rico Dowdle
* Ezekiel Elliott
* Dalvin Cook
* Hunter Luepke
* Duece Vaughn

2025 RB room as of May 7th

* Jayden Blue
* Javonte Williams
* Miles Sanders
* Phil Mafah
* Hunder Luepke or Duece

That’s a solid upgrade to the running backs room. Bruisers as well as quickness. Exciting.

The Pickens trade has really got me excited not only becuase he’s one of the best WR’s in the NFL but it signals that theres a change underway in the philosophy of how Jerry and Stephen run the show.

Resigning Osa, Turpin and Hoffman show they got ahead of those contracts which is something they’ve had difficulty doing. Parsons is unsigned but so is Purdy, Trey Hendrickson and TJ Watt.

Trades:
  • Acquired QB Joe Milton III and a 2025 seventh-round pick from the New England Patriots: in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.

  • Acquired WR Kaiir Elam from the Buffalo Bills: in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.

  • Acquired LB Kenneth Murray from the Tennessee Titans: in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
  • Acquired WR George Pickens and a 2027 fifth round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers: in exchange for a 2026 3rd round pick and 2027 fifth round pick
Free Agency Signings:
  • Signed WR Parris Campbell .
  • Signed OLB Dante Fowler Jr. .
  • Signed G Robert Jones .
  • Signed RB Javonte Williams .
  • Signed DT Solomon Thomas .
  • Signed RB Miles Sanders .
Re-Signings:
  • Re-signed DT Osa Odighizuwa .
  • Re-signed WR KaVontae Turpin .
  • Re-signed RB Ty Johnson .
  • Re-signed G Brock Hoffman .
  • Re-signed DE Tyrus Wheat .
  • Re-signed S Juanyeh Thomas .
  • Re-signed CB CJ Goodwin .
  • Re-signed LS Trent Sieg .
  • Re-signed P Bryan Anger .
  • Re-signed S Markquese Bell .
It’s starting to look like the Cowboys may have a playoff team this year that could go far with some luck with injuries which every team needs.

Enjoy the season!
Rock. this is the same story, every few years you see the same thing and its wash, rinse, repeat. 30 years of history. vs. one off season to get you excited.

now, looking down the list of FA signing and resignings, I see a bunch of nobodies. nothing to really get excited about. some of them have been at the star, were let go and now back again!!!

and the resignings, are just as bad. the only one of value is Osa and he is league average or above average. the rest are meh!
and outside of pickens, which I didn't really care about that trade, the rest are meh as well. some on one year deals.

now, it looks like we signed a lot of people, but its also because we had to fill the roster as most were at the end of FA or had left for other teams (like Lewis).

this defense is got question marks everywhere, less in some areas than others. our safties suck. the CBs coming off major injuries. the LBs are nothing but question mark and we still don't have a proven 1-tech.

and we are still 3rd best team in the NFC east.

if all these changes you posted, don't get us to at least NFCCG, then its all same ole, same ole......

but jerry has done it again. generate hope, excitment among fans, to sell tickets. I bet attendance at camp will be high this year. merchendise will fly off the shelfs, and Pickens will sell jerry a ton of jerseys. and jerry is a happy man.

Nothing’s been fixed yet. We won’t know that until the season gets underway. My point is that things are different this year. They’ve been doing mostly what everyone has been screaming for them to do. It’s ok to be optimistic and excited.
they are different than last year, but same as other head coaching changes that happened. just go see when we changed coaches and changes made to the team.

Agree just wish we wouldn’t have gotten another top flight DT or LB
Besides that you can’t complain
saftey? that's kind of all of defense, except DE....three CBs coming off major injuries and no slot CB. Lewis was one of the better slot CBs in the league. we let him walk.

This has been one of the better offseasons in recent memory and this is what they should have been doing each offseason under McCarthy. There's still a lot that must come together with this team, but they've definitely upgraded the roster.

I still have questions about the RB room, though I'm excited for the competition. Wondering how the oline comes together, Dak's ability to rebound and put it together when the lights shine the brightest. We still need to find another DT and though we added some depth/rotational guys it's still a weakness especially at the 1.
reminds me when we hired McCarthy and all the changes his first two years. same with Garrett and Parcells...this is a repeat of when we change coaches and its down hill from here.

We are building through the draft. All these former first round picks will be going next season. I doubt they redo many of their contracts. That’s my thought process on the whole scenario. I think there’s a three-year plan by the new coach to get youth and speed in here. And in the meantime, just get the best you can as cheap as you can.

They drafted three defensive linemen and signed 3 as free agents.

They are taking their shots.
so throwing garbage at the position just hoping one sticks!!!
they drafted couple of DT in the 7th round. they signed a couple of bodies in the 6th wave of FA....just because they throw numbers at it, doesn't mean its quality. quality requires resources, like higher draft picks and better FAs.

this is not taking their shot. this is just checking a box.

in 3 years, this coaching staff will be lame duck coaching staff just like the other 7 before them.

8 Losses feels about right

If we stay healthy I guarantee we will be better than that record!
What does "stay healthy" mean?

No team "stays healthy". Every team loses projected starters for the year, and then loses other guys for chunks of the year... 4, 6, 8 games, etc.

You can proclaim us "Superbowl favorites, IF we stay healthy" every single year, and you'd never be wrong, because every team loses players
