If Blue is legit

Couldn't they put Smith at left tackle and Guyton at RT? This way he's not on Dak's blind side.
Smith would most likely be a penalty machine there, as he lacks the quickness for OLT. Plus, messing w/ success generally turns out badly.

His tape shows him running between the tackles effectively. If there is a crease & he hits it, there better be a defender in great position or he's going for big yardage.

Sure, he needs the rotation to pound the defense but until proven otherwise, I think you can call any running play with him in the game.
Tape shows a lack of power. It would be coaching malpractice to run Blue on the inside, he's just not built for that. Yes, if he gets a lane he can be gone, but if he doesn't he could also get hurt or fumble.

If Blue is anything close to this guy you want to feed him when possible. (Both are around the same weight/height)

Guyton is still a question mark too. While there is potential overall on OL I’d argue it’s too early to begin making these type of projections.
Even going back to last year I just don’t see some awful player with Guyton.

He was ok at worst.

I feel like year 2 we should see a big step forward.

We just need him to be mediocre.

In Seattle he had a limited QB yet got to a SB. Here, they did win 12 games 3 times in a row. But as you know, being a hc and the true OC both, comes with a different feel to it. He might be great , or he might be awful. I don't think there will be any middle ground. It will be feast or famine out of the chute. I feel like he's got a lot of what he needs to be highly successful. We will see.
Come on now, those Seattle teams were all defense.

I have bigger concerns about Guyton at left tackle than I do with Steele. Steele looked to be getting back to form later in the season and I hope the change in offensive line coach(es) benefit everyone.
I hope this oline jells and starts to dominate the way the great wall did. I rewatched Dallas-Buffalo SB last night and the Dallas oline just wore the very good Buffalo defenders down to nothing. That's the hope here going forward. It opens up both run and pass game equally. Gotta get back to that lead draw too as it was ES bread and butter. Guyton has growth potential and if he is in fact putting in the time in the weight room and he wants to elevate he can gladly do so this upcoming season.

Remember Troy Brown?
As the resident Marshall Thundering Herd expert, why yes.... yes, I do. :)

I'm scratching my head a little, though, uncertain how his name pops up in a conversation about a speedy RB who has a little receiving ability. Sure, Troy was a punt returner, but never b/c he was a burner... more like a Cole Beasley asset than anything else.

Let's agree to disagree. Blindside is blindside in my view.
…and if either you or I were in the States rn (which you might be for all I know), driving on the right side of the road would probably feel weird at first.
That’s regardless of the fact that fundamentally you’re still sitting at the offside of the car, as we do here - and accelerating with your right foot, as we do here.

So yeah, there’s still going to be an adjustment playing blindside on the opposite side than you did for 2-3 years prior. This isn’t the only reason pretty much every evaluator was calling him a project when he came out, but it’s part of the leap for him.

I expect him to be better this year; not finished article, but improved.

The penalties are strictly about the footwork and handwork adjustments. He defintely need to get stronger.
Stronger will help but footwork is so important. He’s never likly to be Tyron strong so his footwork is more important

he had two full years by the end of last season to recover and he still was not there
his lateral movement was never all that great and its THERE that the problem is since he has not gotten that back and by now it is not likely he ever will
Dak was good at eluding outside pressure, not now after his injury.

The makings of a high level offense are there. Now obviously there are a lot of unknowns - what kind of coach Shotty is, can Pickens not implode, etc.

Assuming most of the questions are answered positively you have a potentially good to great OL (although I still have issues with Steele), you have a quality WR corps now, a quality starting TE and if Blue is as good as some claim, you make potential at RB.

That then leaves the QB. Fingers crossed.
Cant know the answers till sept !!
It is all wait and see now.
PS will give an idea on some things, but we wont know till actual games start.

Some already have Blue penciled in as being legit, despite the fact he was a 5th round pick. He may end up being real good or he could be one of those players that fans got carried away with and end up being disappointed. Some need to tap the brakes and wait until camp and preseason, to start passing judgement.
