Week 1 1983
Dallas vs Washington Monday Night
The Commanders had a 23-3 halftime lead.
Rookie Darrell Green ran down Tony Dorsett on a 77-yard run.
Howard Cosell called Commanders RB Garrett, "A little monkey." This eventually ended Cosell's career.
Coach Landry told his team at halftime, "Well, now it's just a matter of pride." That's all he said.
Then - BOOM BOOM - two bombs from Danny White to Tony Hill.
Then a touchdown to Doug Cosbie.
Dallas would complete the comeback with a 31-30 victory.
Walking off the field, John Dutton yelled, "You want Dallas, well YOU GOT DALLAS!"

Week 1, 1992
Washington at Dallas
The defending Super Bowl Champions were thoroughly dominated by Jimmy Johnson's 1992 eventual Super Bowl Champions 23-13. The score wasn't that close.

Week 1, 2013
Dallas at NY Giants
Once again Dallas watched another division rival raise a Super Bowl banner in their face, only to see a WR named Kevin Ogletree stun them with a couple of TD receptions to spoil the Giants party.

So if you have a few bucks to bet on, you might want to consider taking the Cowboys Week 1.

I'd love to see a DAL win after they raise that SB trophy, but it's doubtful.
...I would put the game at 50/50. We have bunch of new players, new coaches ..etc.

Pundits expect Dallas to get whooooped. Its perfect scenario for major upset by Dallas.

I want to see the cowboys win, but have no idea what the team will really look like. I think we lose but there is a reason they play the games.
....THe pundits give Dallas no chance. Its Philly night, Banner waving, Stallone might show up.

Why not let the horse right out of the gate, Jerry's calling it. ..lol..

Especially with a lot of unknown upgrades. Pundits are expecting a loss because of last year's team. But this won't be last year's team....

Eagles are front runners. If the boys go in there and rock them they will cave for the season. AJ Brown is a problem on the sideline and will blow up if they're losing.

Last time they played the Eagles Kenny Pickett and Tanner McKee “whooooped” them. What are the pundits supposed to think?

Don't bet the rent money or alimony money on this looming disaster aka The Ambush in Philly.
Don't do it, stout fellows!

Also week 1 of the 1986 season against the Giants. I know the Giants didn't win the SB the prior year, but they won the SB later on that year. The two teams were not really close in talent. But it's not just the Cowboys. Week one anyone can win.

I remember watching that game in 1983. Dallas was helped by a missed FG midway through the 4th what would have made it 26-17. Dallas then drove to make it 24-23, then Washington would fumble the ball, which led to the TD to Cosby to ice it. Up by 8 with under 2 minutes left, it's over.

The books are giving you 7 points. Practically begging you to bet the Cowboys. Depending which way the line moves between now and Sept 4 will tell you where the money is going.

We were supposed to lose to the Browns because of their top 5 defense but we were able to steal that game because of it being the first game and their defense not being in peak form.

Established offenses usually have the advantage over defenses.

......the problem is that the Eagles have an established potent offense. It could be ugly.
