Potential Trade Candidates!

Sam Williams issues have never been about his talent, but his bone head mistakes on and off the field. His time is running out to make an impact and this is his last chance to do so.
I mean when you think about it he was raw when they got him….rookie year was a red shirt year, second year has a decent season, third year gets hurt….just hasn’t had a chance that injury last year hurt him. And it’s a new staff….

He was in Quinn's dog house and pretty much became a special teams player. Clean slate, but last yr to make an impact. It is telling the team drafted back to back 2nd rd edge players with Sam already on the roster.

I'd say Hoffman is probably not a trade consideration. Injuries on the line happen all the time and teams need depth. OL play across NFL is pretty blah these days. Thereay be some of OL available for a trade late in camp early season. Hoff brings too much upside to trade though.

Williams probably gets last chance to show he deserves to stay, but more likely he gets a shot to improve comp pick next season. He doesn't seem to have a sponsor in the D Coach room right now. We need the depth, no sense in trading a guy who's playing for his NfL future unless it's a day 2 pick.

Yeah but there’s enough room for all and let’s remember they haven’t signed Micah yet. Sam just gotta put it together and a good camp and preseason is a good start.

Potential trade candidates:

-Aren't part of the long-term future with the team
-Could land us additional day 3 picks
-Could use in a trade to land a position of need. Team may have excess at a position, where they need numbers at another.

Trade Candidates:

-Jalen Tolbert-he is not expected to be resigned in the offseason. Could lose the competition for the #3 WR.
-Bass/Robert Jones/Charles/Hoffman-they aren't going to keep 4 backup Guards. Hoffman can play G/C.
-Sam Williams-it is very possible he is buried down in the depth chart will all the numbers at the position
-Damone Clark-he is buried in the depth chart, where the new staff brought in 3 new linebackers
-Donovan Wilson-he might be a poor fit in this new cover 2 scheme.

What positions could the Cowboys still be hunting?

-DT, CB, RB, T
Tolbert is going nowhere.

He will be given an opportunity to succeed, but there are a lot of numbers already at the position, where they may not be able to keep more then 4. Parsons, Fowler, Kneeland, Turner, Sam, Wheat.

The Lions could use another edge rusher to pair with Hutchinson.

We should trade Williams for DJ reader and a fifth round pick

If nobody steps up, he will be the #3 WR. You would think they give every opportunity for Mingo to carve out a role as they traded good draft capital for him.
They did give up a good pick for him, but he is just not a good football player. He even regressed in year two. I could see them forcing him in if we were looking at a 7 to 8 win year, but we have a high ceiling now. Mingo ia going to have a hard time even getting snaps in 4 WR packages. Tolbert is not a world beater, but he has show he can at least be somewhat productive. As a #3 WR, he might even wind up being an efficient player. I just dont see anyway anyone below him makes Tolbert expendable

It’s gonna depend on what type of camp Mingo has. They are gonna give him every chance to win that job.
What job? #3? Thats not going to be a competition. Tolbert is significantly better than him. They arent playing Mingo over him just because they traded a 4th. Mingo will have a hard time getting on the field in 4 WR packages with Turpin around.

Dude is just not a good player, and this is coming from someone that wanted to draft him. People have stop thinking there is any real chance he contributes. Its just hopeium. He actually regressed his second year. Thats why Carolina traded so soon

When looking for Cowboys to trade you start looking at positions where they are at least good and have depth. Guys who the team can give up but have real value to some other team. Position groups that are deep. They do not have a great TE but they have some who are good enough to make a lot of NFL rosters. Dallas could well afford to part with a TE.

Sam Williams did not show a lot his first two years. He missed last season with a bad injury. I would not be surprised if he did not make the final 52.

The others mentioned in the OP are likely going to compete for a job with the Cowboys because they are as good as they have currently. And a lot of other teams probably feel they can pick up like players who are cut during preseason without giving up anything.

To make any trade you have to have a player who has value to your trading partner. A guy some other team really wants.

I think Tolbert is fine as a #3 but was miscasted as a 2.

They had a high 2nd rd grade on Mingo and he has yet to take a snap with Dak. This offseason will be huge for Mingo, he has to show improvement or he won't be on the roster. Also, we cannot just rule out Flounoy, he had a strong camp as a rookie and just needs an opportunity.

Can Paris Campbell push for a roster spot? He has legit speed at the position where the Cowboys won't have much outside of Turpin who is more of a gadget receiver.

Campbell has shown to be a decent possession slot in the past. The year he had decent targets he caught almost 75% of them. 80% coming out of the slot. He could be a good #4 platoon mate for Turpin. I think thats what Mingo is competing for. And if he grows, he could be the #3 when Tolbert leaves

Sam Williams could be a cut candidate this yr, if they feel he wasn't going to make the team they could try to get something for him.
Sam Williams is still on his rookie deal. He isn't getting cut. And he isn't getting traded either. Coming off his injury he has no real value.

I find it hard to believe Eberflus is happy with his LBer room........Kendrick had over 100 taclkes last season ( I know a different system and DC ). Who are we replacing those tackles with?

We should work out White, McMillan and Mosley - but we won’t.

-Jalen Tolbert - if Mingo shows up in camp, Tolbert could maybe be traded, but he's good depth.
-Bass and Hoffman - Both showed their worth. They are quality depth.
-Sam Williams - He'll get plenty of work. He's good depth.
-Damone Clark - Agreed... he may be too far down the depth chart
-Donovan Wilson - Not sure there is out there at S/SS.

Quality depth is a luxury in the NFL. Can't be giving it away
