Purdy signs for 5 years at $265 mill

Fun with numbers to make them something they really are not.
Can’t really compare it that way.

After this year, Purdy will average $53 million.

In 1976 I made $2.30 an hour washing cars at a new car dealership. Before I started college.
I do not figure that into my average page in retirement.
Jealous. I got paid 1.50 an hour loading tomatoes. LOL. Those were the days.

Wow, not bad for the 2022 Mr. Irrelevant…. purdy relevant now. And at least he isn’t a broken down QB on the downside of his career, like someone we know.

Jerry is one dumb son of a gun .

What do you mean? Do you want me to prove that Dak said he’s pushing the envelope for the QB brotherhood. A simple YouTube search will do that. Do you want me to prove that no QB has come within 5 million APY of his salary. That’s already documented in this thread. What exactly do you want me to prove?

Did Dak say that he owes it to his QB brothers to push the limit of his salary? That’s is a yes. He said it in a press conference at TC.

I mean if you want to find the clip on YouTube and pull it up for you I will. That won’t be hard.
How is Dak hurting keeping from getting the players the team needs. He is not.
That was the premise of the post. Not what he said.

But it works exactly how I said it works. Purdy's cap hits will average 45M over the next 6 years. They take the total of his extension plus his final year and structure it anyway they like.

I just went and looked at Dak's cap hits just to verify. I was off by 1M. He averages 65M over the 5 years. It's not fun with numbers. It's what they actually average. It's simple math.
No it does not. It only works to the outcome you want it to be. And we know what that agenda is.

Prove how it is Daks fault.
Another ignorant cop out by fans. And another fan myth.
Okay so I followed the convo and replied it to show that I never once said it was Dak’s fault. You said that I need to prove something is Dak’s fault and I still have no clue what you’re talking about.

The salary cap is a team resource. That’s a fact. Purdy averages 53 million APY and Dak averages 60 Million APY. Those are facts. Every team has the same salary cap. So 60 is higher than 53. Therefore Dak is taking up more resources than Purdy. Are you asking me to prove what fault Dak has with his contract. I can prove that Dak demanded:
4 years 240 million contract, 60 million APY
NTC
231 guaranteed money

Dak had to ask for that. He knew what he was asking for and therefore it’s his “fault” he demanded an extremely unfriendly team contract. How did Dak get everything he wanted unless he demanded it.

I agree with your points. I definitely agree with we have a GM issue. That’s our biggest problem. The argument that we can massage the cap is true but when the bill is due it hurts. The point about when Dak made 1 million it didn’t matter is not exactly correct because we were paying the bill from Romo. So Dak was on a rookie deal Romo’s dead money was still being dealt with. When Dak retires we’re going to pay a hefty price for massaging the cap. So the next rookie QB will be cost 1 million of his money and 15-20 million (I’m just guessing here, I don’t know the actual number) of Dak’s dead money. So the QB position money will be high even with a rookie QB. That’s the GM’s fault, not Dak’s.

That’s not why I am mad about Dak’s contract tho. My problem with Dak’s contract as far as Dak goes is when he said he has to reset the market for the QB brotherhood. Call me “old fashioned” or “hater” or “ignorant” but I have a problem with my QB announcing he wants to set the QB market so other players on other teams will benefit. If Dak is going to be concerned about anyone but himself in contract negotiations, I have a major problem with the players he’s concerned with do not wear the Star.

When I see Allen and Purdy signing deals that are less than Dak’s then it reignites my anger with that. When Purdy took less, 7 million less, it reopened that wound. If Dak didn’t say that whole brotherhood line I don’t think I would have reacted the same way when I saw Purdy take less.
Was that in a video or in an article? Looking for a link but can’t find anything.

He said that at a press conference in training camp last year. You can’t give another try YouTubeing it. But yes it was a post practice press conference and they started asking about his contract and he said he owed it to the QB brotherhood and all the QBs behind him to set the market high.

God bless you arguing with the king of dak over dallas fans …. he doesn’t care about the team … he cares that Dak gets everything coming to him.

I am 50/50 it’s his brother ….
Actually I’m really not trying to argue as much as venting about the situation. Someone earlier, I think Flamma, made an analogy about cars. Brilliant analogy. I think Purdy signing his deal reminded me that we will have a Honda for a while now. I needed to vent about Jerry and how our players always want to reset the market, or come very close to it. Dak, CD, Micah, Martin when he held out, etc. Jerry always caves and it’s an accumulative effect. We can’t make every player the highest paid player at their position and keep the car running. Jerry and the players frustrate me with this and today Purdy was just a kick in the stomach that we will be driving a Honda for a while with some nice accessories but still a Honda.
