The genius coaching hire(s) of Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer

just getting jalen carter would be a coup ! That why you trade while they still have value.

didnt they get a #1 pick for him too?
So they didnt just get rid of him they profited from the trade.
Dallas will never get a #1 for dak, or a 2 or 3 etc lol.
They will stick with him till he is worthless.
They did. I still don't know how they pulled that off.

That’s a loser mentality I can’t inherit.
The proof is in the pudding. The man has choked every time. Unless they make the playoffs and he hands it off every time and they win that way, he'll choke again. He's a mental case and has been since his ankle injury. Do I want to be wrong? Of course. I've nothing personal against him, but he's proven time again that he'll choke. It is what it is and his hamstring injury last season only proves he's past his prime.

And what is sad is it didn't have to be this way. We all know who Dak is and what he brings (or maybe I should say "doesn't bring"). We all know he's not the future of the Cowboys. I just wish Barnum and Bailey (Jerral and Cap boy) would take off the blinders. If they upgraded the offense and defense like they say they did, then (for a year or 2) it doesn't matter who our QB is. We can still make it deep into the post season. It gives them time to find who our future Franchise QB is.

But I digress.
They know there is a chance Dak doesn’t play out the season.

Most Dallas QBs only start for 8-9 seasons.

I think Aikman started the most.

They feel fine going with Grier if that happens.

But you know AC. He's not just a homer. He's an over-the-top homer.
I'm not totally sure he is. I think he likes doing over-the-top homer...HERE. It gives him the attention he needs. No disrespect intended.

Very cute...what would we do without him.

@Ranching and I just recently joked "we just wanna fit it". Some people do not.

(ps...obviously somewhat kidding about "fitting in"...but there's a grain of truth about it)

I’m just wired different. As a fan yes as long as Jerry is here I don’t expect to win a title. But when everyone is 0-0? Just gonna be cautiously optimistic.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Schott ain't bringing in some new 2025 innovative scheme.
That's a huge portion of why he was hired.
So that Dak did not need to learn a new offense.
Not sure if you remember the evolution of said playcalling but ground zero was Linehan to Garrett to Moore. And that's where it was and is. The Moore to McFraud transition was the infamous "still 80 percent of Kellen's offense" so as Dak to stay comfortable.
There is not gonna be any Reid/ McVay/Shanahan/Payton type innovation on display here.
If anything, more basic and continuity. Possibly more resembling the first 2016 Linehan version of down hill running/timely play action.

Hint: It hasn't been on the now 5 different playcallers.
They had to keep it simple considering that's who they w

Some of that may be true but Kellen Moore was on his first go round at play calling, so his inexperience played a major factor in bad play calls and not the scheme. So, if they run that offense with better decision-making bye the coaches as well as Dak maybe it doesn't have to be as innovative as the names you listed but just structured to help the players instead of the players making the play work which has often been the case since Garrett was at the helm. (hey guys I know they know what we're doing but do you think you can make a play smdh).
